You guys are defending the same type of policies that have already set us up to be run into the ground in the near future, such as spending money that was printed out of thin air that is going to make other countries lose faith in the dollar.

Actually if I remember correctly there was a resounding "no" response from everybody on the bailout proposal. Maybe a few were for it, but even the more raging libs than me did not like it.

None of us want to earn anything? Why the fuck do you think I am still studying? I am studying to get a good job, and have good prospects in life and earn as much as I can so I can provide the best for my family and friends. But at the same time I absolutely completely agree that the rich need to pay more taxes than the poor and the chances are I will be one of the more rich (I won't say absolute rich that depends on a lot of factors, but given my background, capabilities and education, I will most like earn at least double average wage, but of course nothing is for certain) so I will pay more taxes than other people.

It is insanely stupid and ignorant to think that everyone could possibly be rich, you are always talking about the lazy people that do nothing and just want everything handed to them, while you are living in a country where people purely by birth hardly have any chance of even getting a good education, no matter how much they want it. You are living in a country where not everyone has a fair and even chance at that American dream and where people who do work their asses off are still insanely poor and barely scraping by.

And maybe European countries don't spend so much on our defence because we don't want to go to war, maybe European countries don't believe that fighting a war in Iraq will bring more safety to our country and just maybe a lot of European countries are busy cleaning your shit up in Afghanistan trying to make it a somewhat liveable country for those innocent people you kindly left alive over there while at the same time (SURPRISE) managing to actually provide a decent quality of living to our own citizens.

At some point you realize the riff in the class systems, which is greatly intensified in America. Some choose to ignore it, and some choose to care.

I just can't understand why people still think people are lazy when they're born in a society where inheritance and where you were born determines a lot about how tough your life will be. I start to think about all the external factors you have to deal with, rent, health care, food, transportation, and hopefully some sort of education. It's a full plate, too full for those who are making under ten bucks an hour. Instead of caring about these people, and raising their standard of living they are continuously and constantly taking advantage of. Not that the people in this thread would care anyways, they're value of life isn't determined by your humanity, or the person you are, rather how much money you have and where you're from. Those two factors are justification for a lot of what happens to you in your society.

Not to sound like a dick, but it's funny when Jerome drops a soup kitchen story and then opposes a variety of social programs. You care just enough to ensure people don't die, that to me doesn't speak volume about your compassion. Capitalists aren't all heartless, they just tend to do heartless things. It's cool, I get it. I like living in a capitalist society and the alternatives aren't really alternatives, but the government's job - and more so our duty as living human beings is to ensure that the ones at the bottom don't sink, while the ones at the top rise so far that their greed and wealth can dictate and control our democracy. To me, someone who would let the mechanisms of capitalism go unchecked or unregulated is allowing your society to abuse and use others, to the extent I'm not entirely sure of.

The new Michael Moore movie does a pretty good job in talking about the bank bailouts actually.

Of course he did, he's a university student. And not only that, it is likely that he will be more "productive" in society than you will be in your entire life.
If only because he will end up in the 42% or 52% income tax rate (Might well be up to about 75000 dollars* a year) . That means that in about 8 years, he will annualy pay to society what you pay in 5 years.
Big chance by that time you are in a wheelchair whining about how noone cares about the veterans. (No one will ever really care about veterans)

America put Afghanistan on the back burner for a long time. Only recently has America committed to adding additional troops; Up until now it has been mainly a Dutch and Canadian mission.

The funny thing is Izor's the type of person to say this president is a piece a shit, yet he boasts about him increasing troops to Afghanistan. I like seeing individuals for what they've done, not for who they say they are or party they're attached too. The political parties in the states are so fragmented that it gives people two choices, so its hard to look at all Republicans and Democrats under the same light.

In a couple years you can knit pick what he did and didn't do, but don't be a subjective asshole and write people off because you (Izor) don't agree with them, try to be a little more objective in your criticisms.

Im not praising him for sending more troops to afghanistan, because he basically took what was in iraq and moved it two countries over to afghanistan, and then bragged about ending the war in iraq.

I understand the war in afghanistan was overlooked for a while, but when I was there under Bush in early 08 it was pretty mild up north with most of the action down south and after I left at some point Bagram itself got attacked. My whole time there we got attacked 2 or 3 times with mortars and small arms fire, but I heard this one was an actual attack. Keep in mind a lot of the fighters over there are the international fighters vs local Afghans, and when we pulled out of Iraq and dislocated the troops to Afghanistan those foreign fighters moved along with them, as the terrorist organizations no longer had to worry about two countries.

I dunno about the Dutch, but the Canadians were definitely there in force in the southern part of the country, so I can vouch for that. I think they Brits also had a pretty decent force in the country. Didnt some prince guy (harry or something?) get filmed out there then get immediately recalled?

Anyway I never bragged about anything or called anyone a piece of shit for the afghan war...get your facts straight
