Nobel Peace Prize worthy? I'm not sure. But arguably, yes.
ps. Not sure why Obama got it, maybe after 4+ years and signs of him achieving something... but right now? Eh... whut?

Their work begins in February, shortly after the February 1 deadline for nominations from parliamentarians, academics, international jurists, former winners — and themselves. This year brought them a record haul of 205. By that date Mr Obama had been in office for 11 days.

The winner of the prize is decided by a majority vote of committee members at the start of October.

nobel peace prizes (these days) are like the trophies you get in little league. you know, the ones that everyone on the team gets, regardless of playing time or the team's record or anything that's logically tied to merit.
so yeah, who cares? obama is a manchurian candidate. and that's that.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

Apparently he got it for his intentions, as opposed to any achievements. But considering the history of handing the prize out to American politicians (Obama, Gore, Carter), it is obvious that this is simply a political statement. This is playing well outside of the US, but domestically it has hurt him.
But I do have to say Obama missed a HUGE opportunity in this. If he had simply turned it down, he would have increased his messiah value tenfold both domestically and internationally. It doesn't matter that he is donating the money, he simply should have turned it down.

Turning down a Nobel Prize? You're joking right...?
Of course it would have been good for ANY nobel prize recipient to turn it down and say, "i did it for the greater good", "I want no recognition" blah blah blah. But why are people expecting him specifically to turn it down, i mean come on now.
Oh what were you expecting Mandela to turn down the peace prize in '94? What about Mother Theresa? Why didn't she turn it down in the name of promoting saintly virtues? Why didn't Tutu do the same thing as well then? What about the Dalai Llama?
All people who had a 1000x time more obvious reason (god) to turn it down, didn't. Mother Theresa, i'm sure, collected her prize no hesitation.
I fully expect the Conservatives in the House to propose a new resolution on the floor forcing Obama to hand-over his nobel prize.4:BigKing> xD
