I'm not going to get into a debate about this topic. Global Warming may not be happening. However, we are on a very slippery slope as to wear our global climate may go.

IF (big if) the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is not lowered (or leveled off) we will see in the next 50-60 years a severe change in the weather.

Most of us will be gone by then anyways, so how much this affects us is really up to you. Think about your children and grandchildren.

It's not that Global Warming doesn't exist (since the Ice Caps ARE melting at tremendous rates and we can show evidence that the planet is heating) its just that most of the scientists gung ho about proving its existence use facts and information that we don't fully understand. Is it that surprising that a group of people trying to get others to agree with their cause are grandstanding for attention?

The planet is getting warmer and has been for the last 100 years at an astronomical rate (gee, what else happened about 100 years ago that could have caused pollution to suddenly offset our atmospheric conditions?). I don't understand how you can deny that industrialization has had a huge impact on the delicate carbon emissions balance.

So stupid scientists for trying to cover this shit up and talking a big game when they didn't have all their ducks in a line, but global warming is happening because of human actions. For fucks sake, we haven't seen a large icemass break away from Antarctica since 1938 and already in the last five years, two chunks twice that size have floated away toward Austrailia. It's not a good idea to melt away the planet's largest fresh water reserves.

Either way, as soon as mother nature has had enough of our shit, I have no doubt she'll revolt. This planet lived long before we did, and I highly doubt that anything we do will stop it from living on without us.

The earth has been around for more than 100 years, and I doubt we've even been monitoring antarctica for that long.

I know the Earth is more than 100 years old (at least by a couple of decades right?) but in relative Geologic History the conditions on the planet (IE the most important one, the atmosphere...that thing that protects us from the sun's rays while also keeping us insulated enough that we don't fall into another ice age) have remained largely the same for some time. Those conditions are what helped foster the development of mammals. About 100 or so years ago we started burning things for energy at rates that were previously unheard of. We did so with no thought of the consequences, now we're seeing them firsthand. Go take a look at pictures of the Chinese skyline some time if you don't believe me. The smog from the factories is so immense that the heated chemicals can no longer be displaced and rather than rising, the hot air settles close to ground level. That's not natural and its starting to happen in other places as well.

Yes and those cycles take a long time to happen. The last Ice Age happened about 110,000 years ago and lasted until about 9700 B.C. Seems like a rather infetesimal change eh? That's why its just a tad bit concerning to see temperatures rise so quickly in such a short amount of time. The temperature should not rise by a degree or two in a fucking decade. Furthermore, the most serious ice age in our planet's history came as a result of a meteor hitting Earth about 250 million years ago (the one that killed the dinosaurs), and causing many of the volcanos on the planet to erupt, heat the planet, and force it to cool again. We've replaced volcanos with our own instruments and continue to spew shit into the atmosphere with no regard. What do you think will happen, the planet will just take it?

Or maybe the hurricanes will get us first since the warming of our ocean waters leads to warmer weather patterns and thus, stronger storms. This is the science behind why we're having such powerful storm seasons (like the ones in 2005 and 2007, which actually saw more tropical storms than any two years since we've been recording storm fronts).

How soon? Do you understand the concept of Geologic time? We've been in a warming cycle for a looooong time, but never seen rapid warming like that in recent history (and what the hell does a "warming cycle" mean anyway? The planet just decides to get warmer? All of the sudden it decided not to regulate itself because fuck it, this pressure system thing is hard...Did the sun magically start sending us more rays? How is the planet heating and why does it correlate with human industrialization and pollution if we're not the cause?).

I never said anyone proved shit, in fact that's what my post stated, that these scientists have not proved definitively how global warming works but that it is in fact occuring, but based on ACTUAL scientific evidence and not human shortcomings involved with conceptualizing time beyond ourselves, I believe this is a real problem that is occuring.

Am I someone that thinks I'll see "The Day After Tomorrow" proportioned shitstorms in my lifetime, no. However, I stand by what I wrote above. If we continue with our ways I think the planet will find a way to get rid of us for it's own sustainability.

there has been no rapid warming and we are in global cooling now. temps have been especially below average since summer 2007. the ice caps are gaining now. CO2 is poorly correlated with warming cycles, the only correlation is that it follows the warming by the oceans releasing more of it DUE to the warming. all the planets in the solar system are changing right now.

also, data is on purposely changed and weather bugs are purposely rigged and modified. majority scientists are purposely discounted or there names borrowed in fraud where some of them have to sue, everything you typed is a hoax as much as if i simply stated rainfall has increased when it hasnt. global warming is created like fiat money on computers by entering false data directly on purpose.

Its the same thing as the voting machines or paper count being rigged in elections around the world and in the US.

Sometimes people like studying things. Even more often they like to make sense and be accurate about the things they're observing. It's called a passion. Also, most of this hubub is about Professor Michael E. Mann who has been sensationalizing global warming for quite some time. He once called himself the white knight of the world's future or something pretentious like that.

In other words, a scumbag scientist who has been accused of these practices before, was actually caught doing it. What a fucking non-story. Yes, this undoubtedly proves that we have no impact on our climate. This definitely couldn't have been the work of an errant, overenthusiastic professor that wants his name in textbooks in the future. If the CO2 continues to rise. Plants transpire less. Because the amount of time their pores are open to release the water (byproduct of photosynthesis) because it takes less time for the trees to get the co2 they need. This is a cycle which in turn will effect the amount of rainfall that happens. You won't notice a big difference in America, but the rainforests in South America and Africa will definately feel it.

Please do my a favour... It's pointless to call names and say we're all ignorant. But there's lots of literature arguing for both sides of the fence on this topic.

Can we agree that we should maybe walk 5 minutes to the store rather than drive? Turn a light off when you're not using it? Who's it hurting to do little things?

But to completely call climate change (which is what it really is) a lie or to completely disregard it is probably not the right thing to do.
