I have access to ASU's cluster supercomputer which has 4096 cores. I win?

There is no reason to spend that much on a computer...it is all completely wasted power.

99% of applications do not even take advantage of more than two cores and that number won't get better for about another five years. Your computer will be outdated by then. Only your operating system can allocate space and your extra processors for certain software...and most of the software is not compatible yet. Unless you are proficient in high performance computing, you wasted toooooons of money.

Summa, FWIW, I built a computer two years ago with near similar specs for the same price, the only difference being 8GB of DDR2 ram instead of 4GB of DDR3 and a faster dual core (3.16Ghz) instead of a 2.6GHz dualcore.

My point is not really to brag, but more like for the same amount of money, I think you could do better. Do you actually need a blu-ray burner (I mean cmon, who uses blu-ray? just DL or stream everything and spend more money on an awesome monitor).

And also FWIW that is an awesome vid card.

PPS: Also, with a desktop, once you go dualscreen, you don't go back. Your productivity will go up like whoa. Seriously consider getting a second monitor in the future when you want to upgrade.

But not going to say! Don't want any of you getting the same idea.

i would agree that if i dropped the hd monitor with tv tuner and the blu-ray burner that i could probably jack up the RAM and processor by noteworthy amounts, however i just have a boner for those 2 aspects. dunno, its kinda worth the hit on my ram (which is cheap and easy to upgrade) and a little on my processor; for the longevity it is going to yield.

also, TT ur links didn't work for me. maybe newegg is down for maintenance.

It is the same price (more shipping) and doesn't come with a power supply. No thanks, I will stick with mine. It looks cooler

1) The links are working again..Maybe they were down for maintenance (not sure), but they work now..

2) I didn't realize yours comes with 500W power supply.. Is that enough for everything you are getting? Just be careful..I forget if 450 or 500 is the bare minimum for today's graphics cards and other components..

Either way, good luck and perhaps take pictures when you get everything together.
