What about a simple "I don't know" instead of "Maybe a ghost did it?"

Because, when you start accepting superstitious nonsense, you stop looking for the real answers.

For example, it was once thought that epilepsy was demon possession.

"This one time at band camp my family prayed for my father's healing, and the next day he began to recover."

I hear bullshit stories like that all the time. So, why do certain people get healed and some don't? The prayers weren't pure or there was enough prayer?

Ok... fine. But, then why hasn't a spirit, diety, God (or whatever bullshit you believe in or pray to) ever had the power to heal an amputee?

When it comes to amputees they're all on strike, huh? Not enough love for the amputees?

Let's hear that story: "I prayed to God for a new arm and the next day it grew back!"
thats like saying if you play the lottery your going to win, I don't believe in playing the lottery because the one time I did I didn't win

I understand where your coming from however and I'm not asking anyone to believe in anything I do

Science might have given us prosthetics but The Bible brought us the original prosthetic, the staff. Win.

Yeah.. those amputees and their shitty luck. Are you kidding me?

Let me make this a bit more clear:

Someone smart can introduce math to me and teach me probability and I can learn the odds of winning. And then I can say, "Oh.. that's why I didn't win."

But the reason God never helped a believer will never be understood unless one goes with the simple answer: God does not exist.

I know that idea is too radical for you believers. You guys don't believe in all the other 99 thousand other gods found in greek lore, etc, but this one god you do believe in. Us atheists just don't believe in 1 more than you.

But, anyhow, you're still left with explaining why God favors one believer over the other because results are not consistent, except when accepting there is no God.

Its because believing in god isn't a fix all problem solver, having faith in god helps people heal faster, and generally last longer or hold on longer when in a coma.

And believe it or not that is scientifically proven.

That would show the power of belief, not God's power.

it would show the power of faith in my and your creator and the ability to get better quicker because of that connection we have with him. And The Bible never says that he didn't invent dinosaurs long before humans unless you think that a dinosaur isn't an animal which it says in Genesis were created before Humans.

I think you can see that especially when people are going to die or have a sickness that is going to supposedly kill them. Science can't measure someones will to fight to live, or someones determination, or someones faith that things will be alright. Which is one of the reasons why I choose to believe religion over science. But still along with being religious also comes with the fact that I also believe in a Hell of sorts, and so I could also believe that a ghost or some sort of spirit could be on earth. I find that easier to believe than global warming anyways.
This post is proof that we should let Mexico annex Texas. Whether or not you're a religion person... Jesus Christ, you're actually retarded. I kinda feel bad.

Edit: You're a classic anti-intellectual. Enjoy recovering from cancer with no chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy doesn't cure cancer, it kills off everything in your body in the hope that it will also kill the cancer. Generally a cure is a bit more localized. But chances are I will probably just die because I rarely take any medicine besides the occasional tylenol, I don't get vaccines and the funny thing is I am sick far less than most people I know. Having a strong immune system is something that you have to get by allowing it to fight off infections on its own. Oh and since you want to talk about Mexico annexing Texas and want to bring up cancer it would probably surprise you to know that Texas is the worlds leading cancer treatment and research center of the world with M. D. Anderson hospital and UT Health and Science program. Of course I wouldn't expect some ignorant public education student to really know much about anything. Oh well.

my views on god have nothing to do with the bible, nor a bunch of names of deities created by man, nor an image of a man in the sky, and are more based on the belief that all things are made of energy and that this energy has no real rhyme or reason, it just is

to me god isn't a man in the sky who grants people miracles, punishes those who are bad ect ect, god to me is the peanut butter and jelly that holds the bread together

your atheist, I get that, I used to share your view and think along the same way, as I mentioned I accept your thoughts and opinion and am not asking you to share my own, through my own personal experiences my opinion, thoughts and belief have changed. I don't preach them to the world and want to make them share mine nor do I care :P

Belief in the power of goat cheese could probablly induce the same effects.

No, you just share them on forums and ask others to come sit around the camp fire to tell their own ghost stories.

                            You breed superstition.

So, God to you is magnetic forces?

God hasn't been disproved in fact Revelations prophecies have pretty much been strengthened since the microchip was invented, its all right there and all pretty much guaranteed to happen in the last 30 years or so. The Mark of the Beast will happen because it is the next logical step in technology, its a way to stop identity theft and make sure people are who they say they are. And companies are already working on the technology. Besides when you look at all the science channel programs like "top 7 ways the world is going to end" they all pretty much match up with what The Bible says is going to happen. Besides in the end so what if I am wrong, I would have lived a better life and met some good people from the fact that I am a Christian.

Germany already has biometric identification cards.

                                http://www.thelocal.de/sci-tech/20091214-23931.html
But data protection advocates say the RFID chip, which can be detected via radio frequencies from about two metres away without the owner’s knowledge, is problematic despite the fact it has already been incorporated into German passports.

Dr. Andreas Pfitzmann, head of the privacy and data security group at Technische Universität Dresden, told The Local on Monday that there is no reason to use RFID chips for identification cards, and that in the worst case scenario, the chips could be used to carry out such things as terrorist attacks.

“An extreme example would be that assuming German passports react differently to the radio frequency than American passports, I could use this frequency to set off a bomb where I know there are only Americans or Germans,” he said.
