I really hate this phrase. You take one thing, you pretend that tells you everything about the person, you stamp that onto every perceived problem in the country; pathetic argument.

Yea I'm just throwing it out there for someone to make sense out of it. Might be too hard to explain with the interest and efforts usually put into to these forums, just saying, as a positive thing. But I do know that some of the New Yorkers try to be ahead of things, let it be trends or news or politics or what ever, which creates a need for source of information from other continents than US. Please continue

Interesting theory. Let me get this straight, a continent of over 73 different cultures as a whole is most similar to one of the largest cities in the world because this city has a number of different cultures within it (many of which include cultures not found in Europe). And to back up this assertion you bring up a few people from New York that you met in Italy whose "ideals and ways of thinking" most resembled the over 73 different cultures in Europe? Or did they most resemble your own?

And all of this applies to the thread because...Galleleo offered his opinion and he belongs to one of the over 73 different cultures? Or because New Yorkers are showing their bigotry in the same manner as the French, Belgian, and Dutch have lately in attempting to ban burkas, minarets, or other aspects of Islamic society? Basically you said a whole lot of nothing, and what you did say didn't make sense.

haha i was hoping someone would catch that. you're absolutely right, i did not donate a single cent to a single charity or benefit following katrina. since half the organizations out there find ways to siphon off the top of your contributions, i'm pretty sure alot of people who say they donated to help the victims, never saw their money actually go anywhere.

instead, i spent the months following katrina giving money to people, working at the salvation army warehouse to distribute goods, buying gas for families piled into cars with everything they could carry out of new orleans.

it is, in fact, people like me who are letting this country go to shit, specifically because i haven't traveled across the country to stomp your head into a curb yet.

Jerome.. you live in Louisiana. Did you seriously donate money to a Pakistani flood, and not to the victims of Katrina? You live in that state. Did you seriously help some far off country, and completely ignored your own?

    I'll put it this way:

If you really did do that... then it's people like you that make this country such a piece of shit that it is today. I do see you complain a hell of a lot about how bad America is... but I sure don't see you doing anything to change things.

Exactly. So they are going about this by insulting the victims and their families? Right or wrong, the victims and their familes have clearly spoken about about this and do not want it there. So the approach is to ignore them and press forward anyway? If they are seeking to close the gap, why not do it in other ways? Or why not wait for a longer period of healing time? Why do this where and when the victims failies are so obviously upset over it?
    eph
