as for my "misrepresentation" of david hume's views, i may not have said exactly what he said, but i did take it to its logical extreme by pushing it toward radical empiricism, materialism, and subjectivism.

i will say this much: the reason i trolled ratty and now will probably troll tigron is this: they believe that science deals in truths.

i have a scientist sitting next to me right now who says "no, we don't; we deal in approximations of contingencies". and therein lies the misinterpretation of science that a lot of the populace, and you two keep making. only mathematics and logic deal in absolute and necessary truths, almost every other practice deals in contingent ends. so please stop taking scientific discourse and theory as truth and start taking it for what it truly is.

and the "high schooler, making high school arguments" comment made me laugh a bit. good one!

i can see why logically your argument has merit but when you look all around you, all you see is the usefulness of that assumption.

Like I said, there are two major sides in the scientific world, looking black and white at it. Those that believe there is an objective reality that we can see and research and those that think that all results are subjective and influenced by the scientist. That's a really black and white description though.

Also, regarding your posting history you have claimed science as an authority that has bearing on universal truths on multiple accounts, specifically regarding your defense of atheism.

Your wording is very confusing. Science deals with a body of facts or truths. Theories are educated guesses or propositions supported by a body of facts or truths. The existence of dinosaurs is not theoretical. How they lived is theoretical.

As for my past postings, it's possible that I misrepresented something, and we can disucuss the topic anew or you can bring up the past comments and allow me to clairify or correct my statements. But, overall, dieties are concepts, not real living beings. And the burden of proof falls on believers to show otherwise. But, let's not start that discussion in this thread.
