Folk.
Or rather, folks, as I use it in the plural, but that wouldn't have made for as clever a title.
I've been using a macro for years that calls my teammates "folks". At first, I started to do that after the obscenity filter came on, as it was the closest word to what I really felt like calling people sometimes. I have since started using it all the time when talking to people (without the implied meaning). I figure that "folks" is a rather non-threatening term that reflects my rather laid back personality at least my "real life" one. But every now and then, I get people complaining about being called "folk". And I can't seem to understand why. Perhaps it's a bit condescending. But it's placement in my macro isn't any different from a number of personalized "attach" messages some terrs use.
I don't know. Some people think I take pub play too seriously, and I always thought that folks made my macros sound more like friendly suggestions than orders.
And yes, I expect replies along the lines of "why should you care what others think", but a) it's my nature not to try and offend people, and b) there may be a negative connotation that I'm not aware of, and my line of work requires careful use of non-threatening language.
