I cannot express my relief when I saw that the shooter, a very nordic looking guy, also was behind the bombing. If this has been an attack from a terrorist group outside Norway it would have been met with so much hate and misunderstanding towards arabic immigrants, there is too much of that already. I feared that the consequences would grow to be much more dangerous than what had already happened now, and it would be much harder to feel safe again. Its over now, and we have caught our random madman, and I feel safe, and so do people I have spoken with.

I was about 300-400m away from the carbomb with the kindergarden I work in 1 hour before the blast. It feels so unreal that we were so close in both time and space to being in what looks like a warzone now. We had gotten back to the kindergarden when the bomb went off, and that was far enough for us to not see, hear or feel anything from it.

The guy who has been arrested for both terrorist actions has said that he is willing to explain himself, and official interrogations has started today. He has a christian, extreme rightwinged background. I remember that there has been talk about KRIPOS, our equivalent of FBI, adding a nazi grouping to the potential threat list somewhere around a year ago. The christian part doesn't fit in anywhere though, so its hard to make any connections. I'm assuming that the news will come much faster and continously in Norway, so I will update whenever major happens.

How is this affecting your country? Is this in your news constantly now as well?

You see him standing in a police uniform aming at whoever is in the water. Seeing this gave me a new perspective about what went down at that island. Look at all those bodies! There has also been stories about him shouting victory chants and cheering while shooting.

How awful. Glad you're ok.

It's on the news a bit here. I was at work when everything started going down, and I was talking with my coworkers about it. Most of them didn't seem to care much - apparently events in Norway don't matter much to most of them. However, there were people who followed the news avidly with me.

He will get 21 or 18 years, but there is special sentences that are given in the most severe cases. He will never be released from jail unless he proves that he should get out again. When the X amount of years is over his conduct in jail will be reviewed. This is much more based on mental health than it is on criminal behaviour. This is a very sick person that most likely will never be cured, so he will live out his days in jail/insituions.

Maybe I am explaining this badly, but this is very different from a normal sentence that automatically lets you get out after you served your sentence. Only a few persons in recent history has gotten sentences like that, and the longest sentence for that so far has been 15 years. Will most definatley set a new record in heaviest sentence made in Norweigan courts.
