exactly what i thought would happen with skyrim is happening

played like hell the first week i owned it and now i'm bored and will probably only go back to it every now and again until six months out when i do a full play-through all over again

it's my own fault really. i'm started as a stealth/destruction mage, and then i just got into smithing and enchanting. i have legendary dragonscale armor with fortify destruction and restoration enchants, which brings the cost of all my destro/resto spells down to 0. i can sit there and spam fireballs all day long and if i happen to get hit, then i can spam healing spells. it's just too easy, even on master.

i've still got a ton of sidequests to go through, but without some challenge, it's just point A to point B = obtain item C. :\

it would probably be fun to replay with an entirely different build and leave out magic altogether, but it's kind of daunting to think about getting back to where i am. i'm a lazy sob, though.

absolutely! even though i'm bored with it right now, i'm sure i'll come back to it at some point and have a ton of fun again. it's a pretty massive game with a lot of replayability.

Yes, but dont expect it to be mind-boggling-addictive. Its fun to play definately but it has flaws like any other game.

Lasted about a week for me too. Even tried playing it "hard" (master diff. no magic), but when the "end boss" dies in just 4 blows while normal creatures take 10 of those same blows.... started optimistic on this one, more so than oblivion. But I won't touch this game again, it's just not satisfying, the story line and quest lines are just way too simple and easy. Nobody even acknowledged the death of the big bad guy afterward, the blade guy said nothing so I killed him too (already killed the girl earlier), maybe the shouters say something? I dunno, just felt completely unsatisfying.
Just going to stick to limited world games now. You might not be free to roam like open worlds, but at least you get a good story for it

im so angry at this game right now.... final main questline battle with alduin glitches and wont initiate the fight. ive reinstalled, repatched, saved at different points, loaded from hours before and nuthin.. bethesda's reply to my nasty email was "we realize that errors are occurring with on ps3 with save files larger than 8mb. we suggest replaying without killing/looting every enemy and searching every shelf/chest to keep variables low therefor keeping save files smaller." are you fucking kidding me? the point of the series is to be THOROUGH right? they basically said in order to play bug free i have to half-ass it and just pound through the main questline... i call bullshit x50 on this one. fuck you bethesda for wasting my 3 weeks!

The story in witcher 1 felt better to me, decisions felt to have more actual impact. But you could try to learn to read Polish, the witcher is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's books. Only to to have been translated to english now, I was hoping the release of witcher 2 would speed that up. Or if you can read german, they have a few more translations out I think...

P.S. the games are not a re-tell of the books, they're definitely worth a read.

as stated previously: I'm around level 25nord w/ heavy armor, one hand + shield.

I realize (now) that such a choice was unwise in terms of fighting (because I'd be taking damage, no matter what) but the whole motto of Skyrim is "play your way" so I wanted to bash the shit outta some fucking skulls.

I'm level 25 not for a lack of playing, but I die so damn much that it takes hours to finish a dungeon.

TLDR? I suck.
