Yep, some of these aren't meant to be taken so literally, others are just common sense.
1. This one is kinda weird, might be some kind of reaction from the person looking at the other persons watch.
2. It may take a while to find the remote, but at least when you do find it, it'll be more convenient for any future time you want to change the channel. Rather then walking back and forth to the tv constantly just because you're too lazy to look for the remote, just hoping you'll stumble across it one day.
3. This is just a really bad saying.
4. Not to be taken literally, it could mean that you were looking everywhere but you missed the obvious place where it turned out to be. Or you've looked basically everywhere and you realize there is one spot you haven't looked in that area, and it turns out to be there.
5. Some people just blank out or doze off while watching movies, so you ask if they saw a good scene that occured, and if they didn't, you can rewind and show it to them if it was a rental Kind of pointless to say if you're watching a movie in the theatres though unless you want to tease them about missing it.
6. I think "Can I ask you a question?" is used to get the persons attention, and get them to pay attention to the question you're about to ask. Usually people say this when someone is busy or in the process of doing other stuff, so they say this to get his/her attention. Or people may say this because they are about to ask a more serious question, so they wanna give the person a slight warning first instead of just coming out of nowhere with a possibility of sounding rude or something.
7. You can have something new and improved. For instance, say they came out with a new model of a car. It's new because it hasn't been used and its just recently been made, and it's also improved, because its better in many different ways then the previous model. Therefore its new and improved. For something to be new, it just has to be recently made and not used. For something that is improved, it just has to be better then whatever their previous thing was.
8. Not to be taken literally . Meaning, it just felt like life went by fast.
9. What cops said.
Yep, I didn't quote, so you're just gonna have to scroll up and down to figure out what the question was
