Played the open beta, decided to buy it. I lost a lot of interest seeing the changes they made since it was announced, removing skill trees, real money auctions, no stat points, always have to be online even to play single player, but the beta convinced me it's at least going to be a fun game.
Fuck the 4-player only multiplayer, though.sdgComment

With stats, you don't get 5 per level to allot yourself. The game automatically places them for you and you have to modify stats with socketed gems and equipment.
The skill tree was eliminated in favor of unlocking new skills every few levels. You mix and match them on hotkeys they way you want, and you can modify them with runes which change the effects. You're never locked to any skills and you can switch them whenever you feel like it.
At first I thought that this would really cut back on customization, but it's not really the case. In D2 you just pulled a cookie cutter build anyway, and the new skill system seems like it will ultimately be more flexible.
The money auction house sucks because it will be full of items botted by 12 year old Chinese farmers. It will probably make it hard to trade for good shit for gold because people would rather sell it for money, but we'll see how it works.
