Congratulations on figuring out that my comparing Oasis to the Beatles was silly. Which pretty much matched what I wanted to say about how silly your comparison was. Read the whole post before commenting please.

Music is like Art, it's copying someone elses shit but displaying it in a new way. Bands that were born, produced, grown, trained and taught in studios our an insult to the real artists.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

Wow, I never knew English music was so widespread. I know that American and British music is the only decent music, with the rest being Europop, Indian or Islamic music, but I figured we listened to our Coldplay, Oasis and Supergrass and get bombarded by American bling bling hip hop muda's. I never actually knew people listened to our music. That made me feel all warm inside. Did you know I went to school with the drummer from InMe, or hasnt British music got that far yet?Originally posted by Facetiousedit: (Money just PMed me his address so I can go to Houston and fight him)

lol. I write for a living ÆNIMA (amongst other things) and that carries over to messageboards. I'm not going to post something that looks like a 6 year old went ballistic on the keyboard. I don't believe that LC has spoken out against them as I'm not the biggest LC fan boy, I just know a little about the band and dig the way they sound alot. When I heard Evenescance for the first time it ticked me off that some band from Arkansas came to fame before LC, who in my eyes deserves it more.
Then again just because a band is mainstream doesn't mean they sold out. Look at System of a Down. I swear they named their latest CD "Steal this Album" on purpose. IMO, they don't care if you buy it or steal it as long as the music gets out.
I don't consider comparing Even to LC silly Troll King. I'm sure you've heard at least one Evanescance song, and if you listend to the LC song I posted I find it hard to believe you didn't find any similarites in the music.
I guess what it comes down to, is that I have a serious problem with the music "industry" in the US. Record companies, producers, managers and even some bands (*cough*Linkin Park*cough*) are no longer after the artistic side of the music. They just want to pump out as much music that will get the almighty dollar as possible like an assembly line. The main violator in my eyes is the pop music industry. Most musicians don't last longer than a few months. Just long enough to get in, get your money and fade away. Why worry about "staying power" when you can just manufacture another band/singer as easily as you would change a part in your car. Just look at the Spice Girls.
Evanescence coming to fame so quickly brought all of this to the surface for me. The sheer amount of talent, drive and emotion coming out of other countries is awe-inspiring. And yet because of the way music is "marketed" in the US most of them will never get the success here they deserve. It's truly sad that the main thing most bands strive for is artistic integrity, and because of that they will never get what they deserve. This isn't limited to bands across the pond either. Just to name one band that isn't getting nearly the amount of exposure that they should, is Otep. But that's for another rant.
The problem with all of this, is that as long as the public continues to buy manufactured crap by the millions things wont change. Most people will never know there is another choice either. The future of US music is indeed bleak when the youth of America simply takes what MTV, Clear Channel and others shove in their faces. Something is wrong when the end all, be all measure of success is how well someone does in the US. Even worse, is when the country they want to be heard in doesn't seem to have anything to do with them. At least in the major markets.
To steal a line from Metallica as they started on the downward spiral, it's "sad but true"."When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

Wow. This is so true.
When I was in Wales last summer, checking out the "local music scene", lol. I was amazed at how much good music there was there. I had a list of atleast a dozen bands to download shit from when I got home to Florida.
I always liked Evanescense's style, but I guess it's unrealistic to think that the style is all thier own. I'll be sure to check out Lucana Coil now.

arguing about who's music is better is funny.
Listen to what you like. If you like Conway Twitty or NAt King Cole good for you. Irf you like Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit good for you. If you like stuff that 90% of people haven't heard of GOOD FOR YOU.
Goddamnit. There once was a man from Nantucket.

If you got something to say/sing/play you might aswell make alot of money with it.
If you want to make alot of money you might aswell sing/play for it.
If you want to make money but don't know how to you might aswell copy others.
If you copy someone because you are a big fan you might aswell try to earn alot of money with it.
If you make music something just for yourself, don't share it.You ate some priest porridge

Sometimes, yes. Most times I just fire out a post, give it a quick once-over with the preview and hit post. If I'm feeling stupid at the time I load the post up in word and see what I spelled wrong/grammar problems."When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
