at any rate, the recording industry wins more than the artist.
Agreed, they never had good intentions to start out with. It also can be argued that no one can tell another person what is and what's not punk.

The universal idea of punk has died, at least through my eyes. Punk bands stop existing in 1995 when Record Companys decided they could make money of these bands which they seemed to understand what the youth was going through.

Punk music and "punk" clothes are now a huge market, shops now sell bulk chains, wrist bands, chokers and any other accesories which a few years ago you would be stared at for wearing.

That brings us back to the idea of Punk. It's mainly for young teens who wish not to conform to Society's expectations. People use to dye their hair any and every color to make people in the Society shocked. But you can no longer make society shocked when everyone has dyed hair. The same goes for piercing or "punk" clothes. I actually view people who have piercings, chains, chokers and wristbands more conforming to society then any other person. What they're fighting is what they are in some respects.

        Punk's Not Dead.

If I remember right, your sig used to be a Bouncing Souls song...what happend to that?

If you have any questions of what punk is, read the Punk Rock Manifesto by Greg Gaffin (singer of Bad Religion). Just search on google and you'll find it.

You're taking it the wrong way, I still listen to good music such as Bad Religion or Bouncing Souls but the idea of punk is dead in my eyes. Maybe the young punks of today should rebel against something worthy of their time like animal rights or the 4000 children that leave us per hour from starvation.

My signature was erased because I think Stabwound got mad because it was too long.

i don't think it's died, i think it's just become much more popular, and more accepted... like at the warped tour, i saw more mohawks then i've ever seen in my life, but also, i did see popular girl-craving stuff like the araris and and all american rejects (along with punk-loving guys, because they still appreaciate the music) but there was also bands like suicide machines and poison the well, which are less heard of, especially in the "pop scene" and there were more moshing, crowd surfing, and fans in general to those bands... no doubt punk is different now, but there's still some (nofx, rancid, pennywise) still going (rancid and pennywise both were at the warped tour) that arn't new-age punk, but it isn't really dead

punk definitely didn't die.... in fact, it succeeded in shocking the world into becomind more liberal. dyed hair, piercings, shitty torn leather clothing with political and music patches, the "fuck authority" attitude..... those all used to be taboo and exclusive to just the punk crowd. now all of those are acceptable pretty much anywhere in the world. you have people with massive facial piercings working in office buildings, you have people with dyed hair signing your paychecks, and the influence of elderly conservatives is dwindling.

the major problem with "true punks" is that they're ALWAYS pissed off at something. it's the feeling of being an underdog in a world that's all out to get them that drives them on. but now they're pissed off because they won the battle they were fighting and have no clue what to do next. it's alot like that old marmaduke comic strip where the dog spends his entire life chasing cars, but one day finally catches one and doesn't know what to do with it.

I guess saying it died wasn't the right words. It's changed completly. No doubt what punks were fighting for changed some of scoietys standards, I guess I'm just pissed off that new bands like Good Charlotte disgrace anything that was and still is punk by claiming that they're part of the punk music genre. I'm proably more pissed off that "new age punks" aren't doing anything new rather then buying societys "punk" merchandise and whining about their past girlfriends/boyfriends.

You know who else sucks, maybe just as much as those Good Charlotte posers....Simple Plan and Mest. Those are some pretty horrible band, that trio. I might've noticed Benji from GC in a Mest video anyway..singing in the chorus or w/e. That proves horrible bands work together.

Mest aren't poseurs. They are really good friends with Rancid and while their music might not be as hardcore as other bands, they still accomplished a circle pit at the Warped Tour in Denver. I don't really like them, but I wouldn't really classify them under the same lines as Simple Plan and GC.

And stark, Poison the Well is one of the worst bands I've ever heard.

i didn't say i liked poison the well... i'm not much a fan of yelling hardcorish music.
i like mest... and they're deffinatly not in the same group as simple plan and good charlotte.... not around here anyways, i could ask people here about good charlotte, and they'd know... i could ask people here about simple plan, and they'd know... i could ask people here about mest, and they'd be like "who?"
there's different kinds of punk (hell i consider emo punk)

                              i was dissapointed, though cuz

Perhaps the only band that rivals Good Charlotte's spot as the shittiest band ever. The only thing worse than shitty poseur punk is shitty poseur punk with a vocalist that is trying to sound like he's about 10 years old.
