Also, maybe of interest is the fact that once when I visited my girlfriend, I had to hide from her roommate's parents, because they wouldn't let her even live with someone that would allow a guy in their room. They showed up randomly when I was already in the bedroom, and apparently if they noticed that I was in there, they'd kick the roommate out of the house. She was Pakistani I think, so maybe the traditions are different.
