My God if he keeps singing like that he's going to lose his voice by the time he's 35

You mean chris cornell? he's been singing like that since the late 80's.

Yeah I've got couple of his Soundgarden songs. I think it's time for a career change though, for the sake of his vocal chords. I heard Hanson are looking for a guitarist for their reunion tour

If that was a joke, it wasn't funny. If that was serious, you should be shot.

Some people just have that talent, have you ever listened to any real hardcore music? They do nothing but scream. Kind of like Slipknot, except more screaming.

After recording "Ticks and Leeches" Maynard could sing for another 2 weeks because of all the screaming, that's why they'll never play that song live. And hat goes to show that some people have the vocal cords for it, while others don't. But that's not to say that Maynard can't scream well.

his voice is one of the best out there for the rock/metal genre atm, not like the screamers of bands like Slipknot.

Audioslave are Chris Cornell and the rest of Rage Against The Machine. Listen to RATM. Lots of screaming (although I generally like it). Now replace that with Chris Cornell and you get a very good band.

de la rocha owns cornell any day in my opinion. also i believe morello's guitar was better on RATM. who can't love killing in the name of or bulls on parade? soundgarden was good but for some reason audioslave annoys me. some songs are good for a while but they get old.

and for the record, cedric bixler and thom yorke are the best vocalists today....(not counting greats like morrison and plant)

Both wrong, you just have to be born with vocal chords like that, and most people who sing like that special drinks with honey and shit to coat their throats before shows.

Ye dewd don't dis Chris, he rules. Audioslave is not Chris + RATM, no chance, even if members are those, they're playing different music (with some trademarks here and there of course).
I thought Audioslave was a little dull in the begining, but then a friend of mine borrowed it for 2 weeks and when I got it back it really grew on me.
I did tho enjoy Soundgarden and RATM more when they were on their own.

I think Chris Cornell is a bit older than 35 as well

You really shouldn't compare Cornell and de la rocha, their vocal styles are just too different. It's like comparing Soundgarden and Audioslave, or APC to Tool.

Zeus, if you respected hardcore music, you would understand that someone can scream better than others. I understand that you probably don't feel that screaming at the top of your lungs requires talent, but the truth is...according to the ears of many hardcore punks, is that some do it better than others.

i only compare them because of the obvious musical similarities. i know that audioslave is a different band but it's still morello on guitar and i could spot him anywhere. the reason i compare de la rocha and cornell is because (and i've not listened a whole lot into audioslave) a lot of the guitars sound very close to RATM. when i first heard that cochise song i was expecting de la rocha to burst out with some angry lyric but hearing cornell's more mellow and soothing voice contrasts so much against morello after listening to RATM for like 5 years that i can't appreciate it that much. i want de la rocha back .

and i see no problem comparing soundgarden to audioslave or APC to tool....i believe that is about the only kind of stuff you can compare. it's impossible to compare stuff like the beatles and tool though, for example.

Yea Morello can be easily heard. Even when he was playing on few songs on Primus' Antipop (btw Primus got new EP out, new material, old drummer...TeH HerB...heard it was different than usual but very excellent nonetheless)
