It's more like comparing granny smith apples to fuji apples. Sure, it's different, but it's closer than anything else you can compare them to.

I used to be a hardcore soundgarden fan and a RATM fan, but I listened to audioslave once and it just didn't do it for me, maybe my expectations were too high, I expected the best of both worlds and felt like I got the weak side of both worlds instead.

I didnt like Audioslave at first because the only song I heard was that Cochise or whatever. I didnt like that song because it seemed too much like the average rock song, it had nothing special. But then they released Show Me How to Live, and I really loved that song for some reason. There are some good songs on that ablum, especially Shadow on the Sun.

As for Chris Cornell's voice in Audioslave, yes it sounds more scratchy and different, who knows why.. But if you listen to some stuff from early Soundgarden it sounds like thats when he hurt his vocal chordes, he almost had an 80's metal high pitched voice.

audioslave is just more melodic than ratm, it's the same exact band so of course they're going to sound the same, i figure with audioslave that morello could elaborate more, or cornell brought some of that into the band

without comparison to ratm, i really like audioslave

I like Audioslave when he isn't screaming. I don't like the screaming genre of songs, but if you do, that's cool, and I know how big of a hit it must be on the guy's voice, so I respect him for screaming. Just never grew on me.

first of all i don't see anything wrong with comparing tool to stuff if he likes it. also, even if people wouldn't remember tool in 10 years, who cares? i love a band called the last great liar but i doubt anyone will know them in 10 years..doesn't bother me at all and it doesn't make them any less good.

additionally, i assume that your judgements of RATM and audioslave are merely opinions because saying 'they suck' isn't really descriptive nor even true. if you don't like a band that's fine and great but at least you may be able to respect their music. take RATM for example...very few people are as creative on guitar as morello was on RATM. also, RATM, along with red hot chili peppers, brought in that revolutionary rap-rock mixture and popularized it (please don't get all pissy and say 'RATM AND RHCP DIDN'T MAKE IT UP THEY FUCKING COPIED SOMEONE ELSE OMFGSFDAFD'). even though i don't like audioslave a whole lot i respect the music they make because it is well done. 'suck' is a useless adjective unless you're talking about blink 182 or limp bizkit's musical skills (not their music, mind you)

A band sucks is not a proper argument, tell me why they suck facetious. and don't break down the individual characeristics by saying they suck "the drums and bass suck" that's the same thing, you know what i mean....i suggest you try again before i care about what you say

This is the funniest part of this whole thread. a guy who listens to a gajillion bands that nobody even knows about today is using this as an argument. Come on face, you know it doesn't mean a damn whether the general population will remember it or not.
