Why're those bitch artists complaining about not being paid enough? THEY'RE FUCKING RICH in comparison to us middle class citizens. FUCKING GREEDY ASS BASTARDS!

I DOWNLOAD MUSIC JUST FOR THAT, THE MUSIC. THAT'S WHY MOST THE SONGS ON THE RADIO ARE SHITTY, BECAUSE THE ARTISTS WHO MAKE THEM DO IT FOR THE MONEY. SHITTY BASTARDS I HATE THEM.

    FOR THE MUSIC!

      I really hope you're joking.
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

got to remember, there is actually a market for 'britney spears'esque music, which is unfortuneate for them... but then again, big companies are all about 'maximising profit'.

i still buy all my music, which is a pain, (usual cd is £14-17 = $21-25). especially for a poor student that has to take out loans etc.. and i have about 150 albums... but i also think there needs to be a compramise, if its possible.

wrote this after a few beers, so ecuse me if its a bit squiffy.

ok, let me change my point of view on the subject

Uploading and sharing entire albums of music freely on the internet is a legitimate crime.

I'm not saying go and buy an entire album for one song, download that one song, it's ok. But to download the whole album is stealing, to download the whole album and then share it with anyone and everyone is worse.

Am I saying the RIAA is right in the reasons and ways they're going about stopping this? No.
          Ну вот...

Jason currently has 25.2 GB of music on his computer.
That is equivalent to 7,834 mp3s.
Those mp3s are equivalent to 596 full albums.
Let's say your average CD costs $18.00.
            Here comes some multiplication!
            596 * 18 = $10,728
Jason has been to a lot of shows.
Jason, for some odd reason, has saved nearly every ticket from every show he's ever been to.
Jason just counted those tickets and has 248.
Let's say your average show ticket costs $10.00.
            Here comes some more multiplication!
            448 * 10 = $2,480
Jason not only goes to shows, but he buys merch at those shows.
Let's say, on average, Jason buys one CD and one article of clothing at every other show.
Let's also say your average CD at a show costs $5.00 and your average hoodie (What the fuck else would I buy?) costs $20.00.
Here's comes some addition, multiplication AND division!
            (248 / 2) * (5 + 20) = $3,100
Now if we combine the amount of money Jason has spent on tickets and the amount of money Jason has spent on shit at shows, we come up with $5,580.
Jason has contributed slightly less than half of what the RIAA expects of him.
Bear in mind, at least 75% of the bands Jason has seen were local groups.
Local groups aren't under the wing of the RIAA.
Local groups exist because of, and ONLY because of, the fans who go to the shows and buy merch.
Factor in the countless people Jason has introduced to some new music.
Think of those people going to shows and buying merch.
Think of those people telling their friends about the band Jason told them about.
Where in the sam hell I am going with this incredibly drawn out ordeal?

FUCK the RIAA. I've done my part.

Last 100 albums I bought were first downloaded to my PC. Fuck RIAA.
Same, except about 50% of the albums I have, I downloaded first and then bought
