    Top 10 of 2003

    1. Alkaline Trio - Good Mourning
    2. Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb
    3. Anti-Flag - The Terror State
    4. Bouncing Souls - Anchors Aweigh
    5. The Suicide Machines - A Match and Some Gasoline
    6. Against Me! - The Eternal Cowboy
    7. Catch-22 - Dinosaur Sounds
    8. The Lawrence Arms - The Greatest Story Ever Told
    9. Sage Francis - Personal Journals (He was on the Epitah compilation, "Punk-O-Rama", and blew my mind)
    10. Forces of Evil - Friend or Foe

Zeus!!- Rise Against's "Revolutions Per Minute" is an amazing CD. You might be a little shunned away from it because of it's hardcore qualities but just listen to the album through a few times and you will love it (best songs are "Like the Angel", "Voices Off Camera", and "Black Masks and Gasoline"). As far as Ska/Punk goes, check out Operation Ivy, Slapstick, Catch-22, Streetlight Manifesto, Five Iron Frenzy, Link 80, Less Than Jake, Big D and the Kids Table, and MU330.

Exotic- How can you like Thursday? I recently picked up that CD ("War All the Time") but after the first run through I absolutely hated it.

Edit: Stay away from Blink-182's album, I can almost guarantee you won't be "felling (it)".

I used to like Thursday, back when the first album came out, but then I saw them live, and they weren't that good, and just overall got sick of them. Their live shows are kind of creepy if you ask me, like, so many people singing super-depressed lyrics kind of scares me. Apparently the lead singer is really nice though, this girl I know's sister used to date him.

6.) Radiohead - Hail to the thief (Eccentric, yet beautiful)

7.) Placebo - Sleeping with ghosts (They keep churning out the good stuff)

Point taken. If your list is Clay Aiken, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, 50 Cent, Eminem, ad nauseum, you're a tool. But likewise, if you list your 10 favorite albums / groups and not one of them is anywhere near mainstream, it just screams angsty rebel wanabe.

That's me, angsty rebel wannabe. Why don't you go listen to Story Of The Year and think you're walking the edgy-mainstream line well enough to maybe, just maybe, pick up a cute pseudo-punk high school chick (or if you are in high school, a middle school chick) at Hot Topic when you're cruising the mall by yourself this weekend.

There are some catchy songs on the radio, but the majority of the albums by those bands are absolute garbage. It's not that I listen to music that nobody else has heard of, it's pretty clear that other people on these forums have heard of the bands I like. I just don't think that the albums that Clear Channel shoves in my face are among the top ten best of the year.

I'm not terribly familiar with the beatnuts, but my suggestion is first to make sure that you got the right j5 album.. the self-titled one is the only one worth a damn. Then i would suggest checking out Dilated Peoples, they're the ones that got me hooked on hip hop.

Damn right. I've got all of LTJ's CDs but I've wrote down all the other bands listed. As I've got 56k I've only really got the chance to download one song from each band before I put my head through the monitor so does anyone know the best songs from these bands:
                            Operation Ivy
                            Slapstick
                            Catch-22
                            Streetlight Manifesto
                            Five Iron Frenzy
                            Link 80
Big D and the Kids Table
                            MU330
                            The Lawrence Arms

To me, Catch-22 sounds like the Mighty Might Bosstones ... so check them out too if u like Catch-22.

                              Catch-22 - Keasbey Nights (sp?)
                              Catch-22 - Leaving

^ Keasbey Nights is their most famous song I think (the one that got them out their) ... Leaving is also pretty good ... dunno bout the rest tho.

Anyone know any good songs by Bubba Sparxxx? I listened some of his stuff and it's interesting.

Zeus, u referring to LTJ Bukem above?
