I'm with you on that one. Annux said that it's just a phrase and that it doesn't really mean anything, but ever since 9-11, it seems as if "God bless America" has become our predominant rallying cry. Everyone thinks God is on their side. If we beat the terrorists, it's because God was on our side. If they somehow prevail, they'll think it was because God was on their side. The fact that God is obviously on the side of whichever country is the best at fighting wars seems pretty ludicrous to me. It's the worst possible rallying cry we could come up with, in my book. We have American flags all over the place, and while I certainly don't have a problem with the people who put them up for support of people who are sacrificing or have sacrificed for our country, in general, I read all the American flags on cars, etc as more of a "we're the best, fuck everyone else" kind of statement.
