Anyhow regarding this thread, I think Mattey should be the Lagcheat Staff Investigator (not PI, LI). I think Mattey is similiar to The Pusher, both don't beat around the bush, and do what has to be done. Ah, maybe Mattey is the Pusher's prodigal son.

I lag, and I can exploit that lag by flying at a mine and attaching just before I hit...
Sometimes I spike (everyone vanishes) and I use that to get into flagroom before they reappear...
I lay ports and go to the other side of the map before using them... consequently when I port enemys on that part of the map don't show up for 1/2 a second to a second...

Is all this illegal? Or just exploiting bugs in a game? Or just using/abusing a natural resource? Facts are, I have a cable connection but being in New Zealand 300 is the lowest ping I can get.

I think that a bot or somesuch would be great in twd, speccing them with high pings/ high ploss. In other zones such bots DO reduce the playerbase but still most players are able to play. As it is i think the bots only don't allow you to play if your lag is ridiculously high (800 ping and 5% ploss)

BTW Mattey, why do you do ?help instead of ?cheater ? Or do staff not respond to that either?

give mattey up's for creating this thread.. a bot would be a great resource instead of "irritating mods.. we all know that the mods arnt always going to answer right away, but in this instance i feel that banning was not a very friendly course of action.. lets all hope that the bot idea will gain some ground b4 next year.

Mattey got his first warning for spamming a ?help call going something like this: 'send someone not on paladen'. A staffmember is a staffmember is a staffmember and should sufficie for anyone, even for Mattey.

Furthermore, kashi's *lag showed no evidence of lagging, but his *tinfo did show signs of some spiking, although, this is something I've only been able to confirm long after. At that time I didn't know how to interpret the information *tinfo gives, and thus I couldn't do anything about it. (Here's an example) So, don't blame anyone on Paladen, blame me if you want to.

PS. Every time you spam ?cheater and ?help God kills a kitten, think of that DS.

hmm.. i thought of that too.. spaming ?help wasnt wise.. however, i dont feel that mattey totaly went balistic pming help.. and if he did, i dont feel that he should have been banned.. just my opinion tho

well, its actually different but its still showing how incompetent some staffers are....


Me and Eddie were playing Baseelim and we were trucing.... we got warned by parasaect <ER>.... and we played the rest of the baseelim the way its supposed to be played (WITHOUT TRUCING!!!)... then when Eddie Awesome and me were the only 3 left... eddie and me got specced for teaming...

we werent trucing when we got specced... not at ALL.... i think i shot eddie once or twice and he shot me too...

Then when i tried to reenter the next baseelim, i COULDNT... because the dumbass Parasect <ER> forgot to unlock us from spec...

Then when i pmed him he just didnt reply to my question if he could unlock me out of spec... even though he was talking in pub chat and moving in baseelim....

So i did a few ?helps and i got Mantra-slider and Pure_luck giving me the "we got your msg if you have questions :Pure_luck:yourmessage etc. etc. etc.


So i told Pure_luck the entire thing... and all he sais is "Hi"... so i go to ?go base, where he was hanging... and he was playing base...

Appearently ppl find playing the game itself more important then the thing they got hired for....

pretty shamefull i might say...
I understand u dont reply when ur basing and being the terr because u screw up the game for 15 other players as well... but as for parasect, i got no good words for him.... abuse of powers isnt a thing that should be tolerated ...


now off course alot of you will say "tera you always team".... im not always teaming... yes i team once in a while... but whenever i get warned, i quit it... and NO im not some1 who stops teaming when a mod or <ER> gets online because thats like being a hypocrite...

Mattey the bottom line is that it just isn't possible to tell if someone is lag cheating. There are some rare occassions when people are specced for lagging, but those are few and far between. Spikes aren't always detected by the server (I'm not sure why, I'm no computer guru), so thats why some people jump around and lag a lot. If you think you're one of the few people who complains about laggers, you're wrong. You are, however, one of the few people who constantly starts forum threads bashing particular staffers and whining about problems that can't be fairly and effectively solved. I'm not trying to start an arguement with you here, but I'm wondering what you expect from us? I won't go so far as to assume that you would start a staff abuse thread if I specced you for lagging, but it doesn't seem too unlikely based on your opinions of staff. I'd like to know how you think we can deal fairly with laggers? It's not fair to spec someone with a shitty connection in my opinion, but it is fair to spec a lag cheater. The problem is that its impossible to tell the difference.

The only reason anyone should spam help is they're not getting help I have to genrally do around 6 cheater calls to even get a ZH to show up, props to wadi for showing up everytime I need him.

LOL you have no clue what your talking about as usual. Donations are for the zone and have nothing to do about staff positions. Plus your % are way off too, it's more like 30% of the squad is in staff and 80% of those were staff BEFORE they even joinned Paladen.

His problem isn't neccessarily that the person wasn't specced for lagging. The problem is that the person that was sent said "well, I saw the person die, and therefore, they weren't lagcheating". That evidence is clearly retarded. Had you or Randedl or someone else that's on staff and also has some experience with warbird dueling come into the arena, watched what was going on, and given a reasonable explaination as to why the person wasn't being specced, I doubt he would have made the thread. The problem is that it's frustrating to have someone who has little to no interest in leagues or warbird dueling (most Paladen members) answer a help call involving a warbird dueling match, and give a clearly ignorant response to the question. There's really no excuse for a staff member answering a help call for a dd and being so daft as to think that someone couldn't be lagcheating if they were capable of dying, regardless of how in the right Mattey was to make this thread, or how much money the staffer's Subspace squad donates to the TW server.

I know Mattey isn't always the politest (perhaps he's the least polite) but it should have been clear to staff members that sending a pubber (at least I'm assuming that's what Beasty <ER> is) and a baser (Malladrin) to address a dueling lag problem might not have been the best way to address the issue. If there were no league duelers on, they could have at least explained that.

edit: an idea to fix this problem would be to somehow prioritize the help/cheater calls. if a help call was coming from a twdd arena, and, say malladrin (a baser), and beasty (on paladen, not sure if he's into any leagues at all) were considering getting the call, instead of saying "on it", they could say, "does a dueler want to get this?" and then perhaps the reverse could happen for pub help/cheater calls, if paladen members didnt feel they were getting enough help calls (although i suspect the majority of help/cheater calls are in pub, i suspect taking the dd, jd, and bd help calls away from the paladen members wouldnt really cause too big a dent)

In address to weaver: Im not saying this could fix the lagcheating problem, im just saying that this would be a decent idea to implement...

We need to crack down harder on people that are talking about lagcheating in pub chat, Im constantly hearing people say 'hold on while I opne kazaa' and other various things of the sort. Now grantid I know most of them are joking, but this shouldnt be a joking matter, I think that there should be very harsh rules for people that say things like this and other relative things. I can remember asking on staff chat about what to do when people say that, I was dissapointed in the response I got back.

Oh, and then there is what Dimboy said...thats an invasion of privacy, but maybe there should be a waiver/EULA for continuum that you have to accept before you enter the game which permits smods to search you for softice and other programs that produce lag. I dont know if any of you other people would accept the waiver/EULA but I know I definately would, I have nothing to hide and I'd like to have my slate cleared.
