Stupidity and Ignorance

For the most part when I've addressed this I get the regular "It's only a game". It is a problem, one that I dont think can be helped much unless you want to pull a J and slient Bob and beat the living shit out of every annoying pub, elim and foum person. Some of them aren't effected by their actions on this game and that's where the conflict is between the two groups. That doesn't mean people should stop caring or stop playing the game the way they want. But at some point you have to take care of this when it becomes intentional, excessive and malicious.

I have no problem with bragging and the newb calling, etc.

It's when this happens and nothing is done. It is happening more and more frequently, and rarely is anything done. Not trying to bash staff, I have seen some mods taking out the trash (props to Da Farmer for one). I'd just like to see it happen more often.

A lot of the problems you brought up, Knockers, isn't based on stupidity or ignorance, but ego. The high population of TW makes these problems worse because they grow exponentially. Staff won't do anything (nor should they) because this isn't just rampant, it's ingrained. Too many people do act a certain way because they want to be offensive jerks, but unless it crosses a line like racism or, you can't regulate trash talk.

Setting lines to zero or ignoring pubchat isn't the answer either. That's like being an ostrich and sticking your head in the sand.

Heh, it takes me 3 posts and I still can't get what I'm trying to say together. Ego is the bigger cause. I just find it stupid that people can place so much of their egos, and pride, into a game.

1. You can't just stop assholes, cause everyone is under the guise of a screenname. Whether it be your real name or not, people hide behind it knowing that you can't reach through your screen to kick your ass. Its just a video game, noone cares if anyone gets their feelings hurt, just as long as their internet penis stays in tact.

And ss isn't a game based solely on socializing, so there is a lot of emphasis put on the skill of the player, how long theyve been playing, etc etc. But generally I've come to accept that any respect in an online game is pretty much useless.

edit: and its really more of a personal goal to get 30-0 in elim. its more about impressing yourself and other people IN THE GAME than some chick you met at a bar.

It's not in the Useless Crap Forum, because it was a message directed towards staff, in the TW Staff forum. There is also an actual disscusion thats happend, not just constant flaming and etc.
