  • websites shitting the bed

the past 5 days or so I have noticed the websites die regularly

    e.g.
    https://trenchwars.org/mmr/
says: "Not connected : Too many connections"

    and
    https://twdt.trenchwars.com/
displays some api call failed friendly error page:
    https://twdt.trenchwars.com/404?mess...ease+try+again.

my initial guess is it sounds like something's hogging database connections

in the time I wrote this post it recovered and broke again multiple times

and posting this thread took ages to save.

guessing things that may be to blame:
    - twlm
    - twl
    - mmr
    - twdt

Yes, we know there is a problem. I restarted the database last night which seemed to help. No we don't know a root cause.

Why would you tag sprackle? I didn't know he was a DBA.

Sprackle is the TWDT website guy.

They are all devs who may have made changes to apps which (edit: meant to say might have caused it) caused this, or may care that their apps are broken, or may be able to confirm that devs are aware. The apps listed are related to currently running leagues so are getting more use than usual and people care more about them right now and they're more likely to be the root cause.

It only got as far as making a thread because using ?help a couple of times got me nowhere - and I wanted to make sure it was looked at because if we get to the weekend and the websites don't work that'd be bad.

Biet, SpookedOne and I are currently working to try and track it down. Sounds like biet found a query that's spinning its wheels a bunch and we're trying to track it down in the code.

We're working on it, but no ETR or RCA at this point. After there is a resolution we will update the thread.

            Thanks Rab!

The issue looks to be resolved as we are back to our normal CPU usage. Will monitor it for a few days to be sure. And to clarify, it wasn't any of the recent projects that caused the issue.

              Thanks for the help.
