I always said if you want to fix pub just ban freespirit. Instead they added attachmode, which devalued terr entirely. For a good basing game you need each team to have 1 terr only and that terr actually going to fr and trying to play normally.

if your terr is freespirit and he is in narnia instead of fr, you lose.
if your team has multiple terrs and people are split up, you lose.

If in your timezone the only thing happening is pub, that's the game dead to you.

Why is that as the largest and most active zone we do not have a similar check in place to changes made to core areas in gameplay?

Why is SpookedOne allowed to do anything he wants with no repercussions? No single player should have this much power.

It actually isn't really the largest and most active zone anymore. They inflate their population counts with literally 40-60 bots being counted, and long-time speccers.
When there's 84 population in the zone list, and you go into a pub with LITERALLY 0 people in it, you know what kind of damage has been done. TW staff, and spookedone are control freaks, closed-minded, gatekeeping trash. Meanwhile, there are other people out there in other zones that actually treat you with respect, and take your input into account. Oh, and they also don't feel the need to close everything off, and release quite a bit of code as open-source. Now if we could just get a true new biller that is open and out there, the entire game would be free from the shackles of weird power-tripping fools. But that's an entirely different topic.

Point is, tw is fucking done for. Phenomenal work Spooked. You've single-handedly made so many people quit playing this damn game that they were once so passionate about. I have absolutely ZERO respect for you or any other staff that has allowed you to ruin this zone. Sit in there with your "elite pilots" while the zone rots and decays. It's basically just a little personal private zone at this point anyways, where you just gather with a select group of people and circle jerk in mmr. BLEH.

i have also quit because of spooked one, when he began changing the settings on a whim, and creating really stupidly unpopular "weekend events" with completely broken settings. when he made "events" that were basically unplayable on fridays, and fucked off until monday, i just decided to quit, it was impossible to play. the man is bad for the game

Just give me sysop, I'm a good deterrent for people. The name Falconeer alone enrages people if I simply kill them in game. Imagine if I banned them. The fear of me 1 upping anyone is enough to deter them from breaking rules, their ego couldn't handle it. I'm like the eye of sauron. Spooked would just be content to dev if I had the power to scold him when he steps out of line. There is very real possibility he abuses powers, I undo what he does and scold him and he rage quits, since there is a possibility I probably trolled him sometime in the past 14 years ago, maybe he had another name? and he's been holding a grudge, and I don't even remember him.

My solution is that Spooked should strictly have a dev role. There should be zero moderation on his end for anything. This will effectively shield him from backlash and also protect him from himself if he tends to lean toward misusing power.

We've been over this. He'd have to literally give up his power to the other people. He stated he likely wouldn't ever do that. You are asking someone who has the keys,...to give their only copy to other people. Well, he's not content with a role as JUST a dev. He needs the total power and control, or he doesn't get off.

There are also accusations of him doing dev work to upset other players or gain power. This is not just a moderation issue.

Also: His moderation abuse was just the last straw for many of us who see his decisions on where to take pub or MMR as ruining their game.

Do you think you could find someone to tell him what dev work needs doing, monitor it to prevent abuse and have him carry out the work happily? I doubt it.

I don't have any confidence in SpookedOne to provide leadership for this zone. I am not sure what his vision for pub is (has he ever given it?) but he seems to blithely ignore the considered opinions of others.

How is he doing on MMR? - Unlike pub it is a new project that has rarely worked well for me in my very limited experience of it. (But then I'm a pubber and perhaps not the kind of player it is most aimed at)

Leagues? - What the hell do I know about them?

A lot of people think power corrupts, but power actually reveals.

I think the situation is complicated by the fact that none of us are perfect saints, and we’re part of a toxic community. It's hard not to get emotionally invested, or to feel defensive, attacked etc.

• All moderation decisions should be taken by other independent people. One who is independent for the discord, one who is independent within the game etc.

Spooked doesn't need to go if there are some structural changes with how things are done. I think obviously it's very troubling if a dev starts moderating. The worlds should be separate. And it's one thing to mute people for being toxic, one could argue a case for that being necessary. but restricting joins to the discord seems like a huge over-step in authority.
