I agree, real vets, ie good players, don't bitch about every single death, or any of them for that matter really, and don't go "ez" after each kill.

Vet imo is someone who has played for awhile (more than the avg pop), and is at a competent skill level (better than the avg pop). To me, any one who has played for awhile and has avg skill is good enuf to be considered a vet.

And imo ... basers can be vets. Bleh ... dueling elitests.

What can you say, some people are better at playing, and then the pride strucks. The only things that annoy me is when some jav repeatly miss aims and tks me, Ice weasels stupid kill macros, when he weasels someone and goes "EZ Mahoro-san", I mean he is cloaked, of course its easy, obviously. I don't say it annoys me everytime, it depends on my day. Some days I can be really itchy about almost anything.

So what is a vet? IMO, someone that has playied for a long time and accually learnt to play some ships real good. And that he understand that other aren't as good as him, self-control.. etc.

A vet is someone who is self aware of the TW and SS community, has been active in that community and has shown they have taken an active and postivite role in one or more league over a span of many years, that's what a true vet is to me. Whether a person is a "vet" or not will always rest on the specific players interactions so I don't think you can have a universal list of them or criteria to judge people.

I'm not saying that players who have been around the game for a while can't be nice or whatever, I've met my share of cool people. But generally, the players who call themselves "vets" fall into one of those actions if not more or all.

EDIT: i agree with DUE.... pure basers, to me, are not "vets" or whatever you wanna call that class of players that is at the "elite" level. they just arent in my opinion.... in basing, 1 player wont make MUCH of a difference between winning or losing, except Brookus... who in my opinion is the only baser vet.

To me a good dueler means nothing, I dont concider duelers "elite/vet" the dueling part is created for newbies who just enter the game, shoot, hey i got a kill! lets play this some more.. you play this on your own. while basers play together, all have their own purpose in a team. I think this is way more elite then just having 5 warbirds shooting 5 other warbirds, and no I dont base because I think it is elite, I like it. I have been playing this game for about 6 years, had allot different zones entered TW after 5 years of playing this game, I heard about the basing wich was very good organized and I liked it allot so sticked here for the basing only.

For me, you have to have been playing for quite a while to be defined as a vet. For example, I still consider Raspi a newbie, but a fucking good one. But he's still a newbie since he really hasn't been playing that long.

I tend to think that anyone who started after 2000 is a newb, bleh, I can't help it

contrary to most true newbie beliefs, a staffer does not equal a vet.

secondly, a vet in my opinion, is someone who has performed well in leagues more than once... Tys (aka Tyson_Bitbeast), Mega Newbie, Deck, Colonel and Nikolai played great last year in leagues but none of them seem like vets to me because it was one year.... obviously all of them will likely become vets in years to come but they are not quite there yet. vets to me are someone who has done it for many years in a row.

thirdly, people like 2dragons, Epinephrine, demonfaze, vihta, koan, blood, banzi, foreign, sika, domi, DUMBRIT!, ara, Hercules, Annul, code, eRad, Golden Knight.... they've all been playing the game for a long time, done well in leagues in the past, and have the right attitude... these are true vets in my opinion

.....but who even cares, ....vets is a title thrown around by newbies for the most part in hopes that they actually know one of these people who everyone considers a vet so that they can feel like they are one too simply because they know one.

I think everyone has their own opinions about other players.. therefor for example "Awesome" can be a vet in the eyes of some guys.. but I ofc still see him as a random nubian...
