You're both right! Staff chat is staff, but it's like a (local) chat where there's one chat for people with staff powers and one for without.

Before we'd have our chat hacked every few weeks or so and then flooded with a bunch of people who thought it was hilarious to start spamming staff members.

Yes, a few people reccomended me (to my knowledge). The dean can't possibly know everyone he recruits - the reason there are so many people on the deans' current squad is because he knows them to be good and fair people.
