I like pure pub, even with the massive amount of javs... in fact, other than twdds, pure pub is basically the only thing I play in ss now... It'd be cooler if the "Team Leader" took into account the number of kills plus the flag touches though, because anyone can sit on flag and get it. It'd be cooler to kind of have to race for kills to get mvp... even if it would promote a spawning wb or two. Oh yea, the prizes like full shrap and decoys and stuff like that should happen more often

First of all, Thix's reputation is shot; no one wants to get involved with anything that has his name tagged to it. Look at the TWIB tournament; it was an absolute failure. Second of all, his exclusion of Spastic-- one of the promenent basing teams, as WELL as a team that has a number of prominent staff members. Bad idea. Sure, Thix got the ball rolling for this kind of thing. If staff is going to host anything like this, it will probably be by our rules and schedules.
2) No announcement was made by Kim or staff about hosting a basing tournament. Sure we can deduce that he was going to get around to a basing tournament, but nobody ever heard of it. Why should we wait around for when it's convienient for you when players are willing to try to put it together themselves?
3) Thix's basing tournament was deeply flawed and was probably unplayable.
But, it's all well and good to say you were going to start this dialogue. But you didn't and Thix did. If the community is this anxious to put together a tournament don't you think "event coordinator" staff should be right on top of that from day one? That staff should START this dialogue and instead it comes from Thix?
Originally posted by StabwoundI've heard that you were specifically talking about Spastic with your whole spiel about people not talking to others. So what? The biggest reason for this is because the better TWBD squads are very competitive, and pretty much hate each other. Why should someone have to talk to a random person? I care for the game and all, and I don't mind helping people out with various crap, but I personally couldn't give 2 shits about how your day went, and I know many others feel the same way.
Your squad happens to house some of the top staff and this is the image that you put out? You're defending the idea of refusing to speak to anyone that's outside of your special club on a spaceship game? This is my point, if you are going to have those staff powers you are placed into a leadership position. There is no communication coming or going from you to the majority of Trench Wars. This is a problem that many have identified, and yet you don't see it?

Okay anyway
Did anyone ever teach you how to base, or help you at all? Did you just teach yourself on some alias and then start or what? I'm sure along the line someone helped YOU.

Funny how people disregard the entire post because of laziness. Or because it mentions Dudgeon.
Apoc, I agree, but I can't do much more than agree because I don't have enough time playing this game. At least till my exams finish

Originally posted by StabwoundI have been a member of this public TW forum for nearly 4 years and I have nearly 4000 posts. I've answered hundreds of help calls from hundreds of players. Some Spastic players don't talk much, I agree. None of them are staff members.
As top staff you have a responsibility to give direction to players when things start going wrong. Discussions are being brought up by people from outside of staff - Thix, et al., when these discussions should have been started long ago by a staff that was in touch with the condition of TW as a whole. I'm pointing out that they are not and I have not heard much in the way of rebuttal.
Sure, lots of people make help calls, but 9 times out of 10 the staffer that answers them will be coming from another arena and then promptly leaving afterwards.
Yes, you have duties in other arenas but there are also lots of <zhs> out there who could be in those arenas already and answer a good deal of those questions. And maybe then those staff can start guiding the players in those pubs, and maybe we can start to test a lot of the other ideas that have been discussed but never implemented.
When was the last time you went out of your way to talk to someone you didn't know in go base or another arena beyond the realm of a help call or criticizing them? As a person in a leadership position you should be.Last edited by Apocalypse WOW!; 10-09-2005, 12:37 AM.3:sarger> the expression on her face said "ez" but the "arms" said "IMPOSSIBLE"

this thread is so true. Apoc, if you really wanted newbs to base, you'd allow your squad to recruit newbs from pubs. Basing squads are the hardest squads to get into. Dueling squads are created and have 10 people on their roster in less than an hour. If you basing people really wanted to get it started again you would make it easier to let people into squads. People IMPROVE in squads, and so if you give some people a chance your squad will probably become more active.

nicely said apoc :-(
you right.
Dudgeon dissolved cause we had lack of players (who left for other squads) and we couldnt recruite new quality ones.
the new players who joined couldnt lift the squad, just for winning simple games that we shouldve.
the lack of activity and the lose of hope, forced us to dissolve. i couldnt tell people who wanted to base to stay?
we tho had a very strong loyal hardcore, but we didnt had the leader (cap) who could recurite new quality people to the squad. (zizzo and The Chosen knew how to do it very well, TC found me after 1-2 basing game. and i consider my self pretty avarage considerable player, not some elite)
to let new people get into base, i think the best idea is to start the engine of base2 arena. also, it will be nice to see some advertisement when base starts. dont see reason why elim tourny and baselim gets ad, and basing isnt...
its all about advertisement and publish :turned:Last edited by FarScape; 10-09-2005, 02:41 PM.
