I just don't understand why people cheat in some games. I mean sure its fun sometimes to cheat in say, GTA:San Andreas.. but thats mostly just for screwing around. Then you get something like say, Diablo 2, where everyone and their unborn child has at least knows someone who cheats... Anyway, It's just amazing to me that such a small game like Continuum, (while it is free and fun it IS a small game) has such a problem with cheaters. It's beyond me to understand why some people just feel like they have to cheat! Or even, why they get bored of the game and decide to cheat for fun.

PLEASE someone explain this to me as best they can. I've never cheated in TW, never felt that I had to. I might get frusterated if my squad loses a dd or bd, but I dont turn around and cheat so I can't lose.

yeah im cheating, or was. some stupid rhadamantus came with legion of arch devils and i made a horde of newly bought heroes and made them have 100 arch angels to decrease their legion to a swarm.

warks lag is not unusual its a perfect copy of a 56k in finland.

All we need is PriitK to make the source code open, so we can work out a solution that for example has server based ship settings, to make using CE harder. Also, I wonder why it was possible to make Cheating Death for CS, but it's not possible to make one for Continuum.

Priit making the source code open would probably make the cheating situation worse, because then people could write their own programs that would be able to use the continuum encryption and we would have a zillion twisters running around again.

Underground i agree, with you that cheating should not be tolerated, but in my case, i'm vys btw. my skill has obviously been mistaken for cheats, but what ever i say will not change peoples minds. I think that instead of staff whining about it and banning people which shouldn't be banned (me) I think they should have the Cheat Engine bot all ready by now, it was 6 months ago when i told lnx how it all works. Maybe if it was done by now i wouldn't be banned right now!

And seen as they are so many cheaters in TW, i see them everytime i go elim and dd's, but then again there are people that just lag, And theres a fine line just between laggots and cheaters, that is why a bot should be made already to detect it and so that staff don't make mistakes, like they have done in this case.

Security though obsurity = no security at all...


not providing source code doesnt prevent windows being hacked over and over again. Linux used by a 2/3rds of webservers is far less hacked and all the source is advailable for everyone to see.


What we need is not more security at the client. But at the server side.


The server needs to be improved so it detects and kicks cheaters automatically. This is how alot of more modern online games prevent alot of cheating. Maybe we need some cheat bots that detect cheating and auto d/c cheaters.


The client is always going to be the weakest link as it is under total control of the cheater. The server is a much better place to start to prevent cheating.
