having this all in one weekend is sketchy. i know i could get my squaddies to show week after week... but not for 4 and a half hours max one weekend... but we probably wouldnt win anyways

Wow... Cuji and I did a small 4 team version of a draft basing tournament tonight and it went quite well!

The results were as follows:
Richard Creager's team came in first, Bluedandy's team came second, Hannes' team came third and Recon marine's team got participation.

It was a lot of fun, I had to rely on people I've never played with before and it worked out because we ended up first place.
My team consisted of:
Terrier: magi koz(round1), Me(round2)
Jav: Lemon
Sharks: Guru <ZH> and Za_Gophar
Spiders:Green Chocobo, Blue Chocobo, ajaxee, Me(round1) and magi koz(round2)
It was all public, the first match of ours was played in ?go twlb2 against Recon Marine's team. While Hannes's and Bluedandy's team squared off in ?go twlb.
Then Hannes played Recon Marine in twlb2 and We played Blue in twlb.
For the initial draft we had plenty of people show up and this was about 3 to 3:30 in the morning central time, so I don't think getting enough people during peak hours should be very hard.
I hope they set up something like this again soon.

Maybe you should put down a list of players that will be there on the given date and time. Pick captains a week before that so they can think about people they would want in, then it will be picking like in Myth, bad luck if people you wanted in get picked before it is your turn. You had time enough to think of 'backups'
A certain balanced lineup might do better then just picking all kind of allstars.

Or you will have to get 8 people that know about all players so they know at the spot wich players they should pick, and I wonder if you get those 8.
It should be fun for as much people as possible, so if 3 or 4 teams are badly picked it is no fun for the players in.
If it is really about draft maybe you should do a limit on the amount of squaddies a captain is allowed to pick.

If its a Squad-based tournament Mambo will be in unless they fall apart 'till im back.

If its drafted teams, with caps picking just before games start there will be the problem that the person with first pick gets "best" ter, then "best" shark etc.

Possibly you could make first cap to pick a ter, last to pick a shark subsequently etc (assuming 1st round of picking is all ters,2nd-3rd sharks etc) This would avoid allsuperstars in , say, teams 1 to 3 and all not-so-superstars in teams 3 to x

If caps pick 1 week before im not sure how you could ensure balanced teams.

Maybe you could do something akin to some of the hosted basing...cap picks say 1 ter and 1 shark and everyone else is randonly placed in teams with cap choosing who goes in what ship????

I think that the draft tourny is awesome. My team got stomped cuz guano made me cap . Haha, oh well. It was fun and as long as you turn on ?nopubchat, you'll be fine. It takes a little time to get the teams organized, but if you are somewhat patient it pays off. I had fun.

we hosted another little 4 team basing tournament!!

Here were the results:

Mantra Sliders team came in first
Gallilelos team came in second
Eeks' team came in third
and Fireyfires team came in fourth

Yes and it worked again.. everything went smoothly.
Ok we got a permission to do this league.. cappys friend is doing the site and me and gappy are gonna organisize it.. this can take some time.. yet we dont know when we can put it up.. propably when we have done everything.. feel free to post some ideas

I like the drafting idea of a basing tourney. It would be a lot of fun. I hope everyone who becomes involved with it will stick with it.

Basing tourneys are fun and should be done more often. They provide good practice for squads agaisnt real comeptition with something on the line.

you know a-s is in for any squad tourney, and i am in fo shoo like poo on shoe for a draft league.
