Besides, many things that get moved are SS related... technically Kid Kaos's "contest" thread that was moved had more to do with TW than this.. this is about modems, his was about ?go art pictures. ?go art is an arena in trenchwars and he wanted to have a contest with it... that has to do with TW. Modems have much less to do with TW, directly, than a TW arena.

I once had 128K cable and it was great, never a problem. I live on an island in the Netherlands and the only connection we got is cable supplied by a daughter company of the company that takes care of gas/water/electricity.. the biggest problem is the quota and the faster your connection the higher the quota.
Last year I went from 128K to 256K my ping went from 90 to 70.
Few months ago suddenly my S2C is skyhigh, I don't know where it comes from but I bet my ISP is fucking things up.
This month I went from 256K to 512K and when having a quota of 2,5 gig a month you would not expect +12% Packetloss to a server in Finland.....

Depends on the network you are put on. Back in Sydney when I got cable conenction I opted for the 256 over the 512. I got great speed for a while though as the guy who came around to install it gave me a newer model that acessed a newer network that had hardly anyone on it.

As to being close to the SS server as you are in finland, you got a GREAT ping son. My avr is around 220, so stop yer complaining! :P

Well, it's no worse then a high ping when you can't play...... if that's any consolation. But anyway it's probably got a lot more to do with server's along the way then your direct connection. If you do that trace thingie that comes with Continuum you'll see around 15 hops before you actually get to TWs. At least that's what you get from over here, might be less as yer closer geographically.
