real quickly, i didn't know i agreed with Creager here, but a "division" (like twdd, twjd, twbd) is a great idea and will be super fun, but SPEEDBALL is it's own thing and we should not be bound to the roster restrictions of the other three leagues. i.e.- i want to play speedball with some non-pallies, don't force us to fuck with rosters, keep SB INDEPENDENT!

as I can remember, we already had a strikeball league, no offence, but according to me, it was kind of a failure. But with some good organisation we could build something nice.
And isn't there a 12hr delay to join a new squad? Or something like that?

You're confusing cause and effect though. I said it before and I'll say it again, LEAGUES happen because 1 person ONE, puts in the significant amount of time necessary to organize and run the league. One person who's there all the time, every time, a league event occurs. The last league failed because the staff who took on the task of running it did not put a full effort in to it, not because the game is poor for leagues.

Jason, I don't see why it would be necessary to make a rule preventing "goalies", nor do I see a fair/expedient way to police such a rule. I'm not saying that we can't or shouldn't change the rules of a, here to theoretical, competitive game type, I just think this particular one is rather unwieldy.

it is very easy with twcore to check (via d1st0rt's sweet MapRegions) if any player is sitting within the actual goal. i'm talking on the yellow dots. that's all i want to prevent. we can run the check every x seconds/milliseconds, whatever interval we want to use, and then warn (either *warn or just a pm) and warp them back to mid court. after the first warning if they do it again, lock 'em in the starting safe for a one minute penalty or something.

this is really the only thing i want to change about the game as far as a major rule change. i agree with the tweaks you mentioned for competitive play. kill the wormholes and use regular old square step-style tiles for diagonal walls so you can truly aim a shot off of one of them.

what exactly are you bitching about, the ball is a single pixel dot with a PLAYER prox. You don't score till the middle of the ball is in the goal.

coming from behind the blue dots (goal) the ball cut across the bottom right corner at a bit of a diagonal and came to rest there. it was moving quite slow at that point, but its center definitely touched some blue. how is that not a goal? and by the way, i wasn't really bitching. i just found it kind of interesting/neat.

Actually, I think you're confusing emphasis with irritation. The only thing that really burned my ass when I came back was finding the settings in ?go strikeball all fucked up. I don't know which staff monkey botched those, but that really deserves a thumping. If I'm pissed I use words like "cunt" "cocksucker" "little bitch", etc. Caps are simply for emphasis, they aren't supposed to be yelling. Think saying something slowly and clearly. Volcs and Creager are testing my personal tolerance for forum bullshit, but that's nothing new, and this particular problem, goal/ball mechancis, I may have jumped the gun and assumed you were posting rhetorically just to bitch. I was under the impression you had a pretty good understanding of the matter from the other ball games you've played in Subspace, and were just posting for the sake of having nothing legitimate left to talk about.

And again, there's only 1 thing that I really really feel strongly about, and that's not fucking around with the arena/ship speed/ball speed/ball friction.
