For me, I don't cap people who say "cap" first. Often times these people would be pissed off that they didn't get captain just because they said "cap" like that would ensure their spot as a captain. Newsflash people, this convention was only a means back when these automated games started up so the staff knows who's here and who's not. We can pick anyone we want. Usually I would PM more known players and ask if they'd like to cap, and they would reply with a simple 'yea i'll be staying' or 'no, i can't i gotta be gone soon'. Some additional communication goes a long way. Other times when people do not step up to the plate, I'd try to cap one person that is well-known, and cap myself. Then when the picking is done I'd probably give the captainship to someone else on the team who is note-worthy.

I agree. Too many people think that whoever says "cap" first gets to be cap. Nowhere is that in the rules. I like to pick good caps, I hate having to cap bad ones, but if no one is saying anything, even after I ask for another cap besides (random newbie) no one says anything.

If you want a good game dont sit silent. I'm not going to PM everyone and see if a better cap is available (waste of time considering most pretend to be afk til they are added or don't want to anyways) so if no one is going to help out, the random newb gets picked (or the same guy gets cap game after game after game cuz he's the only one saying cap).

To golden sun 1: Yeah, we try to pick names we know...were not mind readers, so dont expect to be capped if your name is unfamiliar.

Blacklisting is good, but much easier solution would be good caps volunteering to cap and mods (or whoever starts base) paying attention who they are going to cap.
Not much new to this thread, but if we repeat that shit enough, people who could actually make the difference might start to realize it.
