This thread'll get merged with the other one, but many people are talking about how it's getting boring and what not... Did you ever think of the fact you've been playing some (admit it, it's pretty crappy) 2D spaceship game for numerous years? Yeah, population is going down, but back when most people started playing, P2P games weren't really widely used. I think the younger generation is more prone to play games like Diablo 2 and World of Warcraft and the likes rather then free, less actiony and graphical games. There's a reason why new games and new gaming systems are full of graphics and awesomeness, and it's because that's what appeals to people. Don't you think it's at all possible that it's not the game getting boring, it's the game itself with its graphics and game play that is just slowly becoming incomparable to the current competition of games and gaming companies that are making subspace look more and more like crap-- especially to someone who's never played before?

I think you guys need to shy away from "blaming it on the zone and how it's run" and lean more towards "this game sucking fucks and is not appealing to newer players in the current gaming society/is getting more boring by more of a 'natural selection' to current players."

hahaha thats so true, just becuz tw is dying doesnt mean its the fault of the staffers. Hell, go to a pub and half of the ppl wouldnt even know who runs the place, let alone actually be annoyed with them.

To be fair, Genes intentions are good, he does want to see this zone grow and become greater, but you have to go about things the right way. If you want to implement changes, you shouldn't be telling staff to step down, but maybe you should try and actually stick with a change you feel is good for the zone, and then get people to support it. If you get enough players to support an idea, then I am sure that it will go into effect (reasonably speaking). But it is uncallled for to tell staff to resign, running a zone with 300-500 players on at a time is not an easy task.

I'm not complaining......I'm trying to get the message out to you people about why and how this zone is dying. I'm saying what you guys are afraid to say or are too thick-headed to realize.

ps.....This game has a lot more to offer then World of Warcraft. The reason I played this game was because of the people, not the "graphics". It's all about the community, and too bad no one but me can realize that. w/e, my apologies for trying to bring back some spark in this zone.

Isn't this your 5th thread suggesting the same bullshit? We get it Genes, you hate Pure_Luck. Cooler people running the show may give you a sense of the zone being more lively and interesting but in reality we don't need implusive Sysops fucking things up, breaking the rules or ignoring the group. We had that before DoCk>, Ari and Priitk and it sucked, honestly TW was crap with staffer abuse. If you compare PL to any of them or even GS he's a fucking saint.

Maybe this game is no longer interesting to you, it has become less of an addiction for me lately but I still play on when I have the free time as a Moderator and I actually find some fun in playing the game. You should try it sometime. Is there anything besides giving the zone over to someone "cooler" that you can suggest?

genes, i see your point man. and i do agree with what you say. but be a little bit realistic. no one is paid, i'm pretty sure staff dont come home from work/school/etc and say "jee i should go on subspace and host some events now to meet my quota". subspace is just something that doesn't/ shouldn't be a priority in life. my solution? get more staff (much more), eliminate the lazy fucks (those who care to do nothing, don't even need to eliminate those who do a little bit). then, we need to haul in masses of new people. we need ideas, and thanks for those who have made adverts on YouTube and the such. Maybe add Continuum to cnet.com? More major events, i miss ww3 terribly. as for now, this is just dying though. and when you ?find broly, you're probably gonna seen havent been seen in 10 days, for a while to come .

I'm not making you out to be a bad guy. I don't think you're a bad guy. Complaining isn't even a bad thing when you think something is wrong. My only suggestion would be when you try to put said complaints down, to be a little more eloquent than "newbie" this, and "nerd" that.

Work and life generally come before fun. I'm not saying I don't put 110% into the zone when I am online but if I have exams or if I have to work every weekend I'm not going to try to duck it or wing it for this zone. Genes isn't hiding the fact that he doesn't like Pure_Luck and he's trying to tie it into his idea that this zone is dying. Maybe it isn't as good as it use to be but I think it's more of a personal thing. The excitement and fun I use to have from being part of this community has died down a lot, I think it happens to everyone and while you're trying to find that "newbie" feeling fun again you do stupid things for the zone.. like make 50 threads about how PL sucks for example. I am not questioning his commitment to wanting a better zone and all, I am just trying to help everyone understand why things are this way and maybe help the discussion along to being more positive and productive.

There are somethings we can do to make this game more fun like attract more players with the advertisement campaign, work on PR stuff, get people working on the public map and settings and some antiCE stuff. From my position a lot of that is being managed well, things are moving forward but a lot if not all of what Genes is talking about is subjective or flawed. How do we sustain this population and keep the leagues active without focusing on getting new players into the zone and keeping them? Whatever sub-arenas you may find fun are boring to me. Zombies, some basing arenas and maybe Maxtrix2 would be cool but a lot of people hate that shit. The best solution would be to get the ERs hosting outside of their comfort zone. The only solution I see is to get the Event Coordinator to make a list of random arenas, all ERs must confirm they will host this or that per month each month. This idea of getting "cool" people to run the zone is a joke, I hope. Try talking to Pure_Luck and the Smods like they're real people, make a real complaint or suggestion and drop the dooms day shit. If this zone is to die it will fizzle out slowly, hundreds of people are not going to go cold turkey over night.



Unless someone has population records for the last 6-8 months and wants to share I will ignore these calls about the zone dying. You can not make such a claim without accurate population statistics. Finally this zone lives or dies by the player base. It is ran by the players. I am nothing more then a player with extra duties and commitments just like a squad captain must maintain order that is my job within the entire zone. Before you want to complain look at how much work you've put into this zone.
