I spend 100% of my subspace time involved in some sort of Strikeball play. It is the most fun arena in Trench Wars. I'm pretty good at it, but there are a number of people better than me at it. What I like about Strikeball is the regulars that show up consistently, the good attitude everyone shows and the competitive play that comes out of it.

Strikeball is most fun when you play with people who you connect with on a totally mental level. It can be a very beautiful game. If you are into team sports, especially 5 on 5 team sports, you will have little difficulty picking up and excelling at Strikeball.

The Strikeball arena is generally empty, but there is a chat (?chat=speedball) that the Strikeball faithful hang out in and will join you if you are playing. Strikeball doesn't get a lot of publicity, and I'm baffled as to why. Maybe people get discouraged real easily? Those who play Strikeball are generally friendly and will let you know what you need to do, just ask questions if you have any.

Find people you enjoy playing with, it makes the game so much more fun to play. Practice passing/shooting, try dazzling your opponent or working on your defense in one on one. Strikeball is totally fun and I wish more people would play it.

I am a big basketball fan and I like to think that the game is played a lot like basketball but in truth the game is probably most similar to soccer/futbol-- hopefully that inspires our international crowd. the game is tits, it's basically a level deeper than the other TW arenas, it's fast, smart, and can be fucking incredible when played well (offense and defense) there's so many shots to learn, so many defensive spacing issues to address, and of course, the standard subspace fly and shoot shit. People show up in the arena sometimes and are discouraged by lack of attendance, I think it's fun to be in there with one other person (on the same team) and just work on passing and shooting, 2 vs. 2 is incredible fun, allows for a lot of time with the ball and a lot of action. seriously, you guys are missing out by not giving this game a real shot-- i was a die-hard baser for so many years and I can hardly play basing now it seems so slow one dimensional.... come play sb with us. join ?chat=speedball and come kick it around.

People don't cheat in Strikeball, the lag restrictions are just a lot more relaxed than in other arenas.

You know, I'd never thought of it, but you're right, hyping the shit out of it will make for great disappointment when a person plays it for the first time with that type of shit in their head beforehand.

Obviously I've been going about this all wrong.

I'm having trouble making something good up for it, a simple "STRIKEBALL IS TOTALLY THE SHIIIIIT" just will no suffice, I need to go for the edge here, some sick ass propaganda level hype. Oh well I'll come back to it when I've got something good.
