Well Infantry fucking sucked in the first place, and as sony is considered, their fee is monthly and more than 15 dollars correct?
Anyone know how big their user base was? I'd lay money down that it was smaller than Subspace, or even TW alone is now.

first priitk should get this to work, program it.
and then he should get companies who would actually want to advertise for such a relative small game, zone even..
and wouldn't it also mean that TW would totally seperate from SS, since it would be the first paying-zone.??

          i dunno i'm dumb

I would pay, if it's not too much of course.
Around 20$ a year would be acceptable.

I would probably pay to play IF it was a very low amount, like $10/year. The only reason I started playing Subspace was because Infantry went Pay to Play.

This issue has come up on tons of games I used to play. If the game is going to be charged for, the game is going to need a major overhaul. For starters, fixing things like the fucking levs, etc.

Lastly-- can Priitik legally charge for it? Or is the Subspace client/server shit totally public domain now?

This idea of a yearly fee is a good idea. However I feel it is too soon to start such a fee. I would like to see how the donations work for the next 6 months and see if monthly expense are being met. If donations are falling short then a yearly fee would be a good idea, but the fee shouldn't be mandatory until a player has played 6 months for free. This way we will still get new players. If you have to pay for a service right off the bat for this game, no one is going to join.

Since this game is suppose to be non-profit, there should be rebate evenly split between paying users if there is a remainder of money after that users year. This way the money is only paying for the cost to run the game.

Like the greek olympic champions who didn't have to pay taxes for a year, the tw champions shouldn't need to pay for a year.

Thinking of this logically. PriitK isn't making a profit on it, it should be fine. Plus if the money is used only to pay for running the servers and bandwidth, it isn't dealing with any copyright laws dealing with VIE Subspace. Plus once Continuum gets done this won't be an issue. But don't take my word for it, I am not a lawyer nor have an understanding of how the copyright laws work.

                      here's an idea.

Have an entry fee for squads for TWL.

at this time the squad is usually stable enough for this to work.

Maybe someone should set up a simple and 'short' mail about our current situation and the outlines of the possible ways to solve it. SS should use everything its got if it wants to get through this. Thx to the new pw-recovery system we have the email adresses of most of TW's regular players. Why not send a mail arround to inform everyone in a personal way. It won't cost a thing, but it will certainly make sure that everyone knows this is not just a rumour, but something we have to deal with if we want to survive. Maybe with this mail we could find other or better solutions.

What's the deal with the adds/links. It has been mentioned before but nobody really talked about it anymore. If u get money when people click on adds u put on ur website, can we not use this to fund our servers? Is it possible to set up like a pr-website. This site would contain all kinds of of banners/links/adverts that get us money if clicked on by visitors? Is this possible?

What I feel is that we should try to involve as much people as possible into this problem. If we can make the whole community understand what needs to be done i think we can achieve much more. FFS were all a bunch of computernerds. Don't tell me we can't find any more creative ways to scam money on the internet..

I believe anyone who truly enjoys this game would be able to handle $15 a year, considering how much time they put into the game as of now. Paying through advertising is a descent idea, but what if subspace got too big and then it became pay2play monthly because so many people can play a cheap online game. I am not sure on the whole status of TW, but I do enjoy this zone more than any other by far.

You got my $15 to play!

Payments could be set up through Paypal very easily. It is an online payment method used by Ebay and many other big internet companies.
