I'm cool with the staggered system of bots, but I know that there has been speculation of whether the first Pub is always full because it's the first one on the list, or because it has PurePub/Levi-Restrictions.

What better time to test it out?

I have more fun in the leviathan pubs trying to defend the base against leviathans, its more of a challenge, it requires some interesting tactics and fast reactions.

I feel the whiners are winning, once they get rid of leviathan, everyone is now javelin (who was leviathan before), so they want to restrict that ship to only 2 per freq to stop tking, then people mine tube, they want to make that illegal, so restrict number of sharks.

Leviathans are a vital part of the balance on TW, relegating them to a single pub as they are now, is not good. In leviathan pubs we never had a problem with javelin TKing.

IF YOU WANT TO PLAY A GAME OF BASING ?GO BASE leave public the chaotic randomness it should be.

Why not create an ?go autobase arena (like pure-pub but with ship restictions - ie only 3 javelins,3 sharks max, 2 terrier (burst attack is stupid) 15 people max on a team) for people who want to base, but never get picked in the ship they want in ?go base.

purepub is the worst of both worlds, it frustrates basers and it frustrates pubbers.

levis were not that much of a problem, but you cant base with a goot private freq LT around, no matter what fast reactiony you think you have. however banning them was the worst out of many possible solutions, next to ?go autobase.

also, the first pub was always full long before there was a bot that did anything and long before any of these new school changes. so much for that.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about this issue. But I guess maybe flabby and I are in the minority. Even many years ago before pure pub's were introduced people whined all the time about levi's. People will whine about something every time, anytime something is changed, and anytime something is not changed. There's no clear cut solution to this that's going to please more than 60% or 70% but systematically removing ships is not the best route. I'd rather see setting tweaks than removing ships altogether, but this reminds me of a similar example in nature, how ecosystems work. If you dislike spiders (the arachnid) and you have them exterminated from your property, then you'll see an increase of bugs that the spiders were previously killing. It's not any different than removing levi's from certain pubs.

I don't think the ratio of people that complained about levi's to those that did not has increased at all. The only difference has been that the complainers have been more outspoken since then, and the complainers of many years ago were far more likely to complain but then suck it up and enjoy hunting levi's as opposed to complainers of today that would sooner just give up.

Old publics and pure pubs are two completley different arenas.

They both exsist today, if pure pubs steals players from the old public arenas, then that's the choise of the players. You can't force everyone else to enjoy playing with levis like you do. It would be like the solution of shutting down ?go javs to satisfy those who scream loud for baseelim.

The only tiny issue here is if pure pubs or old pubs should get pub 0, and that is only a _minor_ issue. I'm confident that pure pubs will have 30+ players for me to play with at any time, nomatter what you do.

I suggest you put no bot in the first arena, but start in the second arena in the sequence. This way we all get what we want;

Newbies who have no clue what's going on will stay in their javelins in public 0 so those 'skilled' levters have someone to kill.

All the real players can play in the second arena which will be less crowded and have better players.

Your ignorance is astounding. Like I've mentioned before, I've only moved the Public bot around to another arena (the 3rd one). This means the second Public will always be open for Leviathans. There used to be the third Public only open for Leviathans which wasn't open for long during the day because of the population. Now the second Public arena will be open for Leviathans, and that Public tends to hang around a lot longer than the aforementioned.

Because 8 ships were programmed into the client before TW even existed and the zone designers tried to find different uses for each ship. It's like in football. Just because you have a kicker doesn't mean you use him on every play.

i just wanted to make note of the fact that the "old publics" you refer to aren't even close to what they once used to be. and that fact is at the heart of the problem moot is trying to fix. the sad thing is, there is no fix.

back in the "old" days, pubs kicked serious ass. whether you were more about basing or more about levterring, it didn't matter. i was on levterr and had some crazy good times lt'ing with the best of the best. i also was on cripples, and we'd often take over a pub as a squad just to see how long we could hold flag until the entire arena stacked against us.

the player base was much larger back then and there weren't a shit ton of sub-arenas to draw players away from pubs. the advent of twd absolutely demolished traditional pubbing. these days, it's a major rarity to see ANY squad come together and raid a pub. you'll either find them in ?go base or a twbd match. and, correct me if i'm wrong, but there are virtually no levterr only squads out there.

finally getting to my point, without the sustained presence of competent, skilled, and veteran (or whatever you want to call them) players to show newbies how it's done, pubs have fallen into a giant sink hole of suck. they will most likely remain there until the zone and/or the game itself dies entirely. there are too many other, more attractive options for players to dive into. even newbies who stumble out of pub into other sub-arenas tend to not return back much once they've made the transition and are able to join a twd squad or play ?go base a lot and what have you.

but yeah, others have said to move the purepub to the second slot, and i agree wholeheartedly. if it still fills up to capacity regularly, then we'll know for sure what's what. as it stands, you can't be sure if brand spankin' new players even know two different types of pub exist. if you force them to ?go to a purepub, instead of just automatically show up in one or the other, you'll have your answer.
