Make a deadline. Set up a certain date for the other squads to qualify for the league. If they don't reach 5 preseason games before that date then they won't be in the league. I say the deadline should be near the beginning/middle of July.

There seems to be more than 4 active squads, I don't see the need to change that to make a 4 squad league. Unless each squad has like 20 people......

Forums did have one long ago...I was actually a mod for it.

Was deleted after the league failed.


That was the season you had spearheaded & started the league jiu. We had a draft league that year too.

Because journey is the superior game. And the admins don't want to create a forum for all the game called "Balls".

its only pre-season :P personally i think an extended pre-season (like twd is for twl) untill the end of summer is a good idea, too many people trying to rush into a league when they suck. Need to give the newer squads time to get good as well.

I agree on the pre-season aspect. My point was in regards to the structure and time available for SB play so that all know when and what to expect on a designated game day(s).

So if Saturday & Sunday are designated days for SB games/scrims, say for example that on Saturdays games/scrims would be held between 11AM Est to 1PM Est & Sunday between 2PM Est & 4PM Est. it would open a window that allows for an either or situation albeit if one lives in Europe or the Pacific/West Coast.

With a set deadline that could possibly be done using the SB website of which would allow captains to ask or accept a match, they would already know that the game times would be on certain days and would guarantee a hosted match as well if both teams could decide and accept the offers between each team. It would only help organize things a bit on the scheduling.

Using this forum to go back and forth as well as the bot on TW is somewhat a joke if trying to keep things organized and assured of a hosted match.

Just an idea...TWL was like that back in 98/99 if I am not mistaken. The Captains would have to agree to the open timeslots and days available for a game that was agreed upon so that it could be scheduled and insure that it was hosted...this would already be a set choice of Sat or Sun with only certain times so that everyone knows what constraints we are held to.

Just an idea of which will probably be seen as too difficult.

Summer in general is a difficult time to have a SB league. We have done it many times in the past, but once July comes upon us, many people vanish until late Aug/early Sept.

Historically, SB has always become active in Spring around late April into May.

perhaps the so-called league should look at starting during September, allowing for squads to form and players to be home from summer vacations or whatever.

Weeknites will be bad for league play anyway due to and what Doc Flabby had said:

Weekends with set times for games should be posted noting timeslots of available for hosted matches. Using that set time for a match, it should then be agreed by capt.'s of both squads on the day and time for the event. The calling out in chat to see if anyone has 4 on and then to gather them and find a host is somewhate odd. Set times for hosted matches on a Mon. and the have a deadline as to when these teams will agree to play. It just would solve alot of what's been happening and perhaps give more interest from others that may not be familiar with the game.

The league can work, but there needs to be some better way to set times for the game and have the 2 teams in agreement for what day and time they can make the game.

I don't think SB is dead, just on summer vacation perhaps.

yes, a few games have been played per day, but you have to look at who is playing them. all of the pre-season games are pretty much meta, u_s, quickball, iddqd and the newly formed lower tier. quickball has dissolved, leaving you with a whopping four squads. that isn't enough to start up a league, at least a league that'll be worth a shit.
