If you didn't want it negative, that second paragraph wouldn't be there. Staff is a thankless job with no real perks. Ok, I know what your lag is and can ban you if you do something stupid. That's about it. Staff is really just ego booster in that you can have more information than your regular player. In the long run, you have to do more work for no real reason. It's pretty pointless to be staff.

Good luck with college. By the way, frats are pretty stupid.

It wasn't even like that though. I mean yeah I would have liked to be a moderator but mainly I had just gotten SICK of hosting. I had even asked to be put to <ZH> before last TWL season had started. I just got the generic no we need more hosts for TWL and if you host some matches you will probably get promoted. I think a major issue is that staff has and I guess any organization has is most people only want to move up and gain more power. That isn't the case with some people and they end up getting shafted. People such as myself, Duclover, and many other people ( wark anyone? ). I don't want to flame anyone and I don't want to make this thread negative so I am going to leave it at that. Overall staff does a damn good job at what they do and should only be viewed with the utmost respect.

Favorites are not primarily a subspace phenomenon and you will encounter them for the rest of your life (especially if you're in a fraternity). It's unfair to assume that just because you are a ZH that you are entitled to a promotion to ER, and ER to mod and so on. Climbing the ladder of hierarchy seems to be an American tradition and we expect things to be given to us, that rights are owed and not deserved. I think the quick promotion ZH's often recieve has redirected the actual goal of service from altruistic good intentions to a selfish lust for More. I say this because I encountered the same frustration of stagnation and I quit mostly because someone realized my ambition was self-motivated rather than serving this community. Granted that wasn't the sole reason, but I made my individual quotas and competition my main priority and helping people was a convenient end to this. I think, as a gamer, I sought to gain mod, smod, and other priveleged positions like they were higher levels of a game I wanted to beat. Maybe this is all just a personal issue that affects only me but I think you may be in the same boat (if not, on the same lake) and I just wanted to volunteer some words of... advice? encouragement? maybe I just wanted to talk. In any case, the moral of the story is to not join staff because there are much worthier causes to devote your time towards (a fraternity or other *cough BETTER cough* community service-minded organization), and these kids will SUCK YOU DRY.

My time in staff has come to an end! ::Sadface::

Hey guys I just wanted to say that I'm going to have to quit TW Staff because I am very pressed for time in college and I am joining a fraternity. I no longer have time to meet the <ER> quota. Ive had some good times in staff and I hope that you guys can continue on without me ( haha : p).

With that being said, I have to say that I think favorites are played constantly and really effect promotions as a whole. There are many people who join staff and are really energetic about it for a long time. But as time goes on and these people are never given a chance to move up they get really burnt out and eventually fade away. I'm not going to lie, even if I did have time to continue with staff I don't know how long I could have continued on in such as stagnant position as I was in. I think <ER>'s as a whole are quite often given the shaft while <ZH>'s tend to be promoted much more often. I just don't think that this way of doing things is right. But I don't want to end on a bad note... I have met a ton of cool people who I consider as really good friends ( you know who you are there are way to many to name ). I really enjoyed my time here and wish you all the best!
Working...
