remember when you would log onto trenchwars and almost any time of the night you would see PUBSQUAD TRYOUT arenas

and like at least 20 people would be int here trying to get into a squad

it was refreshing at least because it meant new people were trying to advance from straight public into a little bit more advanced stage...

oh well, when twl is over everyone will have plenty of down time to train as many newbies as they want, they can create farm squads all day and let the kids learn to dd

that is... the people that still play after twl, not just wait till the next one

Trance, pub statistic site is being worked on.

You can sort the points list by multiple different choices along with different ships..

We shall wait for that the be publicized.

On another note, Nimrook. When this site of pub statistics come to public, I don't find it impossible for bot coders to make a bot similar to one used in JavElim. It would take statistics from the site created, add up squads' statistic, and perhaps make it show up as you enter public as "Top 3 Public Squads" or something like that.

Would indeed create competition and more public squads.

ummm.. it was up around year 2001 if i didnt remember wrong.. it's like a graphic when u enter to a pub arena it flashes u the top 3 squads in points and players every score reset for i think around 10 seconds.. but i forgot what the term for the graphic is.. but it's similar to those TWL home court maps that were implemented 2 seasons ago where u enter the squad's map and it has a graphic poping up with the squad's name or something

yeah, i'd like to second this point. veteranship is a cycle, i wasn't a 'vet' a few years ago, now i am, tw did jack shit to help me (except by providing the gameplay, i suppose)

subspace is a decade-old game. it's not going to have the numbers it did at its height. the only thing we can do is continue to advertise our game and pull people in.

what can be discussed is how current administration affects those numbers. in my opinion, i believe that the 'pub culture' has been decimated. try explaining how TW works to someone who has never played subspace... now, how do you expect new gamers to understand the 'objective' of a flagging game? it can be said the newbies don't 'have' to participate, but you're also assuming these people know how to change arenas.

pub used to be a fairly isolated community... i played for quite some time before i left a pub. i think TWD provided alot of 'upwards mobility' for the current generation of players - like me. with an easy opportunity to play organized games, of course there was going to be a shift from publics to TWD-related games. most, if not all, squads are now organized on TWD - what 'pubbing' squads are there left, anyways?

the automation has been an amazing leap for subspace, it's allowed us to take our game to a fairly modern level. but i also think we've rushed too fast to embrace it. TWPub has gone from a casual log-on-log-off game to a controlled, regulated type game. the bot-run pub arenas siphon off most of the hardcore pubbers, so if you're a newbie entering a normal pub... you're shit outta luck.

once again, my two cents, and i will be the first to say i'm only a casual observer, i could be totally wrong on every point.

What are you talking about... Ok I admit I'm an average warbird now but mega is arguably the best three leaguer in TWL now and is right up there with the elites in wb this season

Well when i first started out in pub, i'd get invited on a private freq then meet people there, then we'd start a squad etc.. But with this new bot in pub telling me i can't private freq it's bullshit. Public squads private freq before they know about twdd. -vys

i agree, if only because I dont think being able to eat 1 out of every 2 bullets that hit him as being skillful

all the brazilians that eat nonstop really arnt top tier anything until they can prove they can play by dodging shots, not just running through them
