LET'S TALK ABOUT THE POSITIVES IN THIS IDEA:

1.) PEOPLE MIGHT START BEING MORE ACTIVE AND LESS BORED CUZ THEY GOT STUFF TO DO

2.) PEOPLE WILL TRY IN THE GAME INSTEAD OF GETTING 1-10 IN JD OR WHATEVER

3.) WE DON'T NEED BOTS FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why am i talking in caps? I don't know, but what I do know is this:

#1) I had sexual relations with your mother in the past and that is why I am your father/owner

#2) Things can get worked out with minimal work from dev

With my experience and Chinese short cuts, i'm sure we can make it work.

HERE IS MY PROPOSAL:

Let's make realistic goals that can be monitored by staff personnel using current bots as proof. Like getting over 100 kills in a TWBD, or getting over 20 kills in a TWJD. Just small things can be monitored; we don't need expensive bots to record getting a 2-fer in a twjd. First of all, everyone knows I'm awesome and I get 2fer's all the time. IS THIS REALLY AN ACHIEVEMENT? OR JUST A SIGN OF MY OWNAGE UPON YOU PEASANTS IN A LORDLY FASHION?

The Bot-Dev team never means to deter anyone from what may very well be a worth-while idea. Tyler is referring to some words I spoke to him on the staff chat, but I was in no way meaning to address him or this project specifically. My intention was to address a general attitude that I sense in Trench Wars that just because something is feasible it is reasonable. My only request is that players take into consideration that development is time-consuming and developers are few and far between. Simply because a a bot has a feature does not mean it can be "copy/pasted" onto another bot and just because a feature is possible does not mean it has a good cost to benefit ratio. It would be possible to create all of the yahoo games inside Trench Wars arenas with lvz and bots and it would probably be very fun and entertaining whilst drawing hundreds of new players... but is it reasonable to ask basically two bot developers to do such a thing? I'm not trying to put a damper on any idea or limit any of you from "dreaming big"; the developers would just appreciate it if we were given some consideration about the difficulty of a task before becoming set upon it. We are working hard to make many "big ideas" of the past come into fruition.

If anyone is interested in Joining botdev, webdev or mapdev please let us know. There are currently about 2 actively working members in each division so when people request new ideas they need to understand we are already working on projects. So as I told Tyler (a former dev member) last night if he wants to do it go for it. I am not saying its a bad idea at all, but it needed to be more organized before it was publicly announced. Get a team in place to handle it that can dedicate the time to it. As with most ideas the general public will now want to know when is it coming, where can they go to check on its progress and who is working on it so they can give ideas or help. And currently it may not even be possible as it was originally proposed.

Team-fer
+100 kills in 20 minutes or less
+150 kills in 30 minutes or less
+5 TEKs in a game
50 MVPs

TWJD:
0 deaths with a minimum of 8 kills
50 MVPs
Clutch player (being last player in on your team and winning) 10 times

General:
1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 kills in any arena (think ?go javs or warzone)
Clean sheet: 1000 kills in pub without a teamkill

I dunno, that's just a few. And Tyler, you could put medals next to peoples names using .lvz but they'd have to be part of the public arena.

Edit: Like crazi said, you could do a partial roll-out of this idea without bots where you ask people to take screenshots and email them to a certain email address that a couple staff members could look over and cross-check with twd.trenchwars.org or in game.

a good way to keep track of all these ideas since it will probably be a long while before they could be implemented would be to edit the 1st post in this thread with all of the ideas (maybe even the impossible ones so they don't keep showing up). Would make it 1000x easier to read, think up new ideas, and keep the duplicates down.




And I think it's probably sufficient to just have a bot pm a person when they've achieved an award and post it on a website. It's a bit much to try to integrate it with the graphics or force it upon other users who don't care about medals and awards.

I'll be establishing a summary of the achievement ideas real soon. By real soon I mean I've got some business to take care of right now, but it'll be on the top of my agenda when I can turn to TW business.

Well it seems that there is going to be very little support from TW Dev, and the chance of getting bot dev to assist seem very improbable. Most players i have talked to enjoyed the idea and most staff i have talked to did also. But the few members of bot dev/tw dev that have put there 2 cents in seem less than thrilled at the time/effort needed to put into something like this. Consider it a dead issue.

I have jumped to conclusions and I would like to make a public apology to TW Dev and TW Bot Dev specifically Milosh. They are both WONDERFUL groups and deserve much more than the smartass post that i posted earlier. This project has great potential and after we work out what all we would like to see out of it, then we can go to both devs and see what is possible.
