ITT: people have yet to grasp the concept of "racism"

alright... I tried not to reply to this... but soja's stupidity made me. We don't play racist music... Rap is the most common music to use racism in its lyrics. the word "nigger" is not a happy word like "bunnies", it's used to beat black ppl back into place. we don't allow ppl to play racist music... END OF. Resol tried it... you won't ever see him on radio again (not on my watch anyway). and as for lizard fuel.. your a douchebag and everyone on radio hated you. you had it going well for about 3 months of that 2 year regin of terror. If Kahlan focused a bit more on radio I belive he could mak it great. I'm sorry to have you run it on you're own kahlan but other things come first. as for twl hosting.. there are a lot of ppl on the radio chat that could do it, I think screamo could host a lovely emo look on TWL =)

Really? I dare you to google some rap lyrics real quick. See how many of them write "nigger" instead of "nigga" or something similar. They certainly aren't using it to "beat black ppl back into place" ! They ARE black... Hell, even a lot of thought-provoking rap still uses the word. If not for the stigma against it, you'd see a lot more people using it just because it's 'popular culture' nowadays.

Ask any rapper what he considers a "nigga" to be: it may mean his close friends, it may mean people in the same situations (socially), it may mean people he considers beneath him, it may be someone he respects, it may mean people in general, regardless of skin color.

Who are you to tell them that they are beating themselves back into place... even a statement such as that implies that they should be placed below other people... which makes me wonder why you'd even say it.


IMO, if you have three hosts, let them host three different types of music. Hell I'll make it easy for you: Rock, Country, Rap. Or better yet, just keep it free-format and let them play what they want. You aren't broadcasting it over actual radio waves, and you don't have to comply with the FCC in terms of obscentities.

But..................... In this world, thanks to Wal-Mart, we have almost any popular song in editted form somewhere. If you want to stick to your guns and not curse, then just play the editted versions of the song. We can guess what DMX is saying behind the whistles, gunshots, barking, and police sirens.

i agree, if you're worried about said events taking place, then do as I suggested and get ur ass to Wal*mart and pick up some edited music. I never listen to twradio, but the couple of times I did i was able to give the guy some music to play, and he played it. No worries about cussing or anything else.

if you think you can sheild someone from profanity, I hope you live on one of those mormon complexes out west. You can't avoid it forever, and at some point you have to be responsible and tell that kid who walks in to hear it that it's something they shouldn't repeat. Don't tell me you've never heard a word you shouldn't repeat. If anything, telling them about it, and not to repeat it, is light years ahead of covering their ears. Sooner or later, they'll have to be able to make a decision on what's right/wrong.

at the same time, it doesn't need to be said every five seconds. it's called discretion, and it's something that people love to avoid in the name of zero tolerance and political correctness.

I have worked with young kids in a few different jobs, one of which involved playing the radio all day. One of the workers brought in his ipod and speakers. At first everything was cool, but then he went on a break and left the ipod playing and it went to his rap folder. I couldn't get to that thing fast enough to yank the speaker plug, but too late, already the parents were pissed. It turned into a big deal.

I think it's bullshit to be honest with you... I know when i hosted radio, i played rap music and the people who didn't like my music or find it offensive can easily click the x in the top corner of there music player.

Have you ever thought of that same mother walking in on there child listening to some heavy metal? some greasy long haired man, shouting and ranting about slitting his wrists or whatever they sing about. The mother wouldn't like their son doing that.

As for a rapper saying nigga being racist? What about when black rappers say "Oh yeah Eminem, He's my nigga". When we all know Eminem is white.

A live radio show is all well and good, but a way to get the word out more, on a timeframe that's easier to stomach, is via a downloadable podcast. Get each host to do a 10 minute segment about TW news, scores, info, events, etc. Play some music in between. Throw in some real world shit and some tie-ins to other games (reviews, news, previews, etc) and you can then broaden the market.

As long as the hosts are interesting to listen to, you can get an audience.

Wow, all the fuss over the use of "obscene" lyrics on TW radio is amazing. This game in it's current format is definitely not child friendly, and I'm not only talking about lyrics on TW radio which I'm sure most people have never listened to. Look at the names people choose, there are the druggies such as myself (Dank Budz), then there are racist names, sexist names, names describing intimately female and male anatomy, religion bashing names, and cleverly disguised curse words for names to name a few. I would never allow my child to play this game for that reason alone. And if peoples names aren't bad enough, just read chat for 5 minutes and there will be at least 1 (probably several) things that someone could find offensive. Personally I don't take offense to much of anything, but I still would not want to have my little boy exposed to much of the "mature" content on this game. I realize that it's nearly impossible to screen everyone's comments, but it seems as if no one is being screened at all. I constantly see extremely offensive language coming from the same people every day, I'm not bothered by it, but I used to be surprised to see the same people being offensive again the next day. Anyways, you get my point by now I'm sure. It's nice that radio is being tightened up, but what about the rest of the game?

LOL I realized that right after I posted. I just read everyone complaining, and I felt like I needed to voice my opinion. I take no offense to 99% of the offensive things that I see in the game and I figure the other 1% is just people trying to get attention. I just wouldn't want my child repeating some of the things that I see. LOL, I think this thread might come back to life for this comment. I hate rap, so good riddance.

I have a problem... Twl should be hosted with radio... I dont see that done like last time. I got banned for playing rap music. The usual songs there are just rock rock and more rock. I can't put anything because its either inappropriate racist which they dont mean to be racist its just calling a person the n word without being racist.

Apparently it died down to even less than that while I was gone and had to be shut down due to lack of interest. I was going to revive radio, but didn't have the time to run it again. I don't think anyone else would want to do it, or would have the time to.
