Where is this money going towards?
not saying PL is doing anytihng bad but should we make people more aware of this or something?

I don't want to pay for teamspeak, or twsites, considering myself and 99% of the zone don't use either. If you can't afford it, make squads pay for their own. I will however, gladly help with the server if thats what it took to help keep this game going.

well maybe staff use TS to communicate but there are other ways to do this and paying for it isn't that significant? i don't think it is last time i checked anyway advertising is a good thing imo and mainitianing a good standard of tw sites so its going towards good tihngs really and hopefully a server will mean a lot can happen.

This is ridiculous and seriously lacks any credibility. Like Lizard said; this button appears out of nowhere after years of everything seemingly running smoothly, and suddenly we need cash? The least you can do is tell the public about why this is so.

Bad enough as it is, Trench Wars' lack of accountability lies in its nature because it's run by a community rather than a corporation. It is therefore not a legal entity able to accept donations, so the only place the money can go to is a private person, which I assume is Pure_Luck given the PayPal destination account's email address mike@atlodental.com. From what I know PL has his own for-profit company, what the hell is going to stop misuse of potential donations?

If you're going to ask for money, you better explain damned well where it's going to so we can be sure it's not channeled into the wrong pockets. Oh and the website atlodental.com just tried to infect me with a Trojan when I tried to visit it, might wanna take care of that.

The money will be used for advertisement of the zone/game and nothing else. I talked to Pure_Luck about it last night, I also wanted to make a news post on Trenchwars.org but he and others thought it was best not to for now.

The cost of running the zone's server is paid for by Priitk and the bot server by Pure_Luck, if they had the need for help they would say so.

I'm sure a list of purchased advertisements can be provided. In the past we have purchased google key words.

Then this is not being handled very well, as most staffers (let alone people donating) seem to have no idea that this is what the donations are for.

Pure_Luck is a good guy and a friend, but I have to kinda agree with what Nycle said. I don't think there's nothing wrong with accepting donations, BUT it must be handled professionally and people MUST know what exactly it is they're donating for. You can't just throw up a Paypal Donate link to a private email account with no explanation whatsoever.

DoCk ran a pretty successful Trench Wars donation drive 5-6 years ago, where donators and their contributions were listed on a website. If TW is going to accept donations for advertising, I think something like this should happen, along with a page explaining what the money will be used for. Not only does this look better, but it would make people more willing to actually donate.

I would like to see four donation links, so people can donate to what they are interested in seeing their money to go.

So you can donate your money to.. lets say

15 dollars for server
15 dollars for advertisement

if thats where you wanted to see your 30 dollars go, because not everyone is interested in team speak or the forums. I think more people would be willing to donate if they could choose where they came from.

Id like to see a community pot. When someone makes a donation its displayed for everyone to see it. A council of high up staffers should decide on whether or not a potential purchase should go forward. When something is bought, the transaction is displayed.

I would donate again to a system like this. The last time I donated I regularly checked but never saw my name on the donations list. Just got the automated thank you reply.

I don't care if my name gets put up on a plaque for donating money to this game, that isn't why I would want to donate. But I do want to be able to make sure the money I put in is going towards what I need think will make the game better. I don't want to donate 50 dollars and have 30 of it go to forums. Maybe we could decide with a pie graph how much of every dollar goes towards X feature that needs upgrading on this game.

Trench use to take donations awhile go they even had a list of names on the website showing who donated and how much and they even got a tw t-shirt.
