We need a better process for vetting and implementing ideas. Right now there's a lot of different opinions on where to take the zone, if you push one way as a staffer you risk pissing people off. You can't please everyone but if you give them a process to make change, at least give them a shot (because not everyone can become a Mod, an ER or SMod) then there's a chance they won't feel as disenfranchised as many do under the current system. There's too many disconnected people working on things like pet projects and too many things overlooked.

This is PL's idea but I'll give my opinion on how it should operate and what I think he's going for.

yea thats true, sometimes decisions need to be made and that be final instead of asking the public, cuz half the time they think they know what they want, but really dont.


the resolution thing is something that should be done cuz were not in 1999 anymore, i mean u guys allow 1440x1050 or w/e in pub there is absolutely no reason NOT to have that allowed in ALL arenas.... everyone wants change change change but i know alot of players who have quit becuz they are forced to play in shitty window mode instead of being able to play fullscreen all because a couple poor ppl on 15" monitors will have a disadvantage? why should half the zone have to be forced to play windowed mode because those few are still stuck in the 90's.

then pureownage trying to tell me that on his 21" widescreen that its not stretched out fullscreen at 1280x1024 which is total bullshit and sending me screenshots trying to prove something when the screen shot will be taken at the res size NO MATTER WHAT SIZE MONITOR widescreen or not windowed or full. so that screenshot was useless

The idea works, but it can be scaled and simplified down to something much easier to manage with the same results.

I like the original intent but like others have stated, it seems needlessly complex and involves too many people in the decision making process. As well as certain people getting the popular vote when they aren't necessarily the best person for the job.

Would it be possible to condense the Warbid and Javelin seats into one group? Also I think if you really wanted to get a good feel for if this idea will work, start with a public community. Get a few people together and seriously go through the suggested changes and ideas on improving pub. Once those changes are through and positive improvement is noted, then you can move on to the other communities.

Good idea, but the initial scope is too big IMO. Start small, and with Pub, and go from there.

didnt read thread. Id rather just have a 'supreme court' for TWL. the rest of the zone is ran just fine.

supreme court for TWL (1 *respectable* captain from each TWL squad) to veto anything idiotic the head TWL op (mirrorr this year) does.

if an issue comes up between two TWL squads, those two captains will sit out of the decision, and the remaining TWL captains will vote. If the vote is a tie a neutral person will cast a vote (like riistar or someone out of TWL with enough brains to do good)


this 'government' is just too complicated and just gives the public more people to blame when TW staff fails at life.

WHAT ABOUT PORK BARRELING? OR LOBBYISTS? OR MINORITY GROUPS? What will we do about those? Seriously, do we need a government? I think our free for all nature has done just fine. I predict that installing a government for our miniature Trench Wars country, will only produce more complexity and consequently, progress will be severely hindered. Governing the TW community doesn't demand this.

Why not have a poll bot that runs around obtaining votes? One of the reason everyone ignores that link to vote in the poll, is because it's terribly inconvenient to alt+tab out, and go click on the link. Hell, I don't even play with the Chat Window on.

My skepticism aside, if you are going to make this happen, I'd like to suggest some things, or, at least, point out certain things that I feel would be important.

Communication between each community-representation, within each Representative, between Representative and Staff will be very important in getting things done. I'd suggest a private (Definitely do not make it public) forum for your government.

This government will have to be a high priority for every player that takes the job. We can't have these people simply doing their "government" duties by convenience, such as only when their squad doesn't have four on, do they decide to work on their duties.

In voting in these representatives, I'd like to note that within each ship, there are different styles of play. In the warbird, you have players who are patient and love to snipe, while you have others, who play more of an up tempo offense. Try to cover all those styles of play. You can't start adding new rules to TW that benefit rushers or snipers for that matter. Warbird is just an example. Basers...

And make sure these representatives have a respect for each other. I don't want nay votes done only for spite. And perhaps articulation on reasons for positions taken on polls should be demanded on a somewhat frequent basis.
