PD, Kontrolz, Jeenyus- would you guys be interested in helping out as well?

We already did this once before with Moot running it. It failed horribly. Mainly because it seemed like we had no power to try things out. Also Moot was pretty inactive for a little while due to real life things.

Only way I'd be up for another pub committee is if it is run by Moot or someone who actually has some power to test and make changes (Moot has already said he didn't think he'd make another one).

Also, the discussion would have to be a lot more active and organized. Before it felt like some ideas were tossed out now and then, and one or two were tested. We'd need some direction/organization because that's what really made the first public committee fail.

Maybe someone should make a new thread about this if there is enough interest.

i still think one reason that wark and crazi get a lot of hosting credit is because people knew who they were before they became staff. a lot of basers become staff and most of the warbirds i talk to anyway have no clue who these new er's are. thus, any interest they might have in playing hosted events disappears. i don't think many of these known wbs have much interest in not only becoming staff, but hosting events either

Sure, the issue tracker sorts by priority, but what we would call "feature adds" need to have a priority all their own that is decided by someone other than (or at least in addition to) folks that write the code. Most of the time in the dev world priority gets assigned strictly by what is the most broken/affects the most people, not which feature is most needed by the community. I think Maverick (please correct me if I am wrong) is suggesting that we need a more publically available way of determining priority for new ideas, regardless of whether we have to write code to implement them.

1. Tw Government is a waste of time, we all know the problems, they're constantly being brought up every couple of months in forum threads but yet NOTHING HAPPENS. Heed what reaver said.

2. Work on those problems raised rather than continually releasing new event maps/events! Every week there seems to be a new event that I've never heard of and iv been playing 8 years! Reduce the amount of events hosted and increase the quality of hosting of those events; there is almost an event going on 24/7 in TW; this makes events lose their 'specialness' as you know there will always be something going on. A couple of years back I'd look forward to an event and go to every single one because they were much rarer, now I go to 1 a week max when im bored senseless just to kill time. Get the staff working on how to improve TW rather than just masking these issues with new events and hoping the public forget about all the background problems.

I think the point of changing to something like this is that changes can occur quickly . I think alot of changes that can be done aren't being done because we are hesitant to do them . But I think if it got alot of support via a system like this, there cannot be any hesitation and the changes will be implemented ASAP. (If this doesn't make sense, I apologize its 3 am)

the decisions that trench wars faces as a community are some very big and important ones. pl feels that the system put in place right now to rule things (staff) is a good one, but he feels that it doesn't sufficiently represent the trench wars community as a whole.

for these reasons, he feels it would be better for a system put in place that actually DOES give the community a chance to properly represent themselves. these are big decisions we face and we need as much support and proper representation of each niche as possible.

i'll run for a basing chair, i don't play pub often enough.

i think it was around in like... 2000-2002 but got removed with the continuum client update....

Like multiple people have mentioned before, adding alot of people and bills will not speed up the process. Ontop of that the focus is spread out too much at once. It would probably benefit the zone and it's players more if the focus was condensed, sharpened and experience with one committee was gained. Then using the experience and positive effects of the first committee, the other areas could be tackled as well.

If you get a small amount of dedicated people to help a staffer or a few staffers with one area that needs work at a time, you'll be able to consistently work on that area until it's improved without the hesitation apparent and the disconnection some players feel when it comes to staff decisions. Win-win situation.


EDIT- Staff please look at Kontrolz's topic in terms of the public committee, which is a first step I think would be in the right direction, in terms of improving areas of the zone, one area at a time.

DR the tutorial being out of date doesn't mean it should be left by the wayside. It just needs to be updated and streamlined, so it's not like DSB's long tutorial.
