So we need to get the committee organized now.

We will need people on the committee who LT, base, warbird, and play around in the spawn.

We will need to figure out how many people would be the most effective while still getting all points of view. Then choose those people based on activeness and maturity level.

We will need a forum group and a chat for the committee.

We will need to create a process for the public committee to use to come up with, suggest, and test out ideas.

We will need to find a way to get as much feedback as possible to the committee.

So obviously the first step is, how many people should be on the committee and what type (warbirds, LTs, etc). Any suggestions?

I think it would be interesting to get new players into this team and suggest what they think would be cool.

Let's think about it here - new players are the next generation. If we keep having the same people come up with ideas that suit their needs, then what will happen? No new players.. :\

No, it's not dead. I've just been busy with life and work, and I assume the same is true for TagMor, Dank, LB, and Kontrolz. We should have another meeting soon and make an actual change, just to see if this system works.

It looks as though Maverick has simplified and automated the process of activating forum registration from within the game. That means we may be able to use these forums or a subforum for valid player feedback and polling, with no further development required. That is very encouraging.

i think the easiest change to make would be to switch weasel back to small. It has pretty unanimous support and we may actually start to see it being used in pub again.

I completely disagree with that statement. It is not a ship that supports even basing (which is usually what it's used for). I also do not think it is anywhere near unanimous.

If the flag reset buffer was set to 10 seconds or something close to 10 seconds then it wouldn't threaten disrupting an even basing game. By even I mean a good number of all ships, not just 6 weasels and 6 javs on the opposing team attempting to stop them from stealing the flag.

Anyway, I've been busy with my new job and some family stuff lately. I'll be on more if you guys want my help/input but I really didn't want to get involved in the actual committee itself because I don't know how active I'm going to be. Also, I saw the last committee fail and I'd hate to be on another one that does the same. I just figured with all the people talking about public arenas that you guys could get this thing together.

Tagmor brings up a good point though. An easy first thing to look at would be the weasel. So, what do you guys think about a 10 second buffer for flag changes and implementing the small weasel?

it was most exciting when the weasel could swoop in and grab flag with 2 seconds left. everyone in pub says bring back small weasel. hardly a 10 sec buffer.

The timed basing is there for people who want to base. Not for people who just like to leech off of a basing game. Whether that's LTing or being a small weasel JUST to steal the flag and say "pwned, omg im so l337, no moar men!".

That is why I think if small weasels were to be used again the flag buffer would need to be increased by quite a bit to try to deter people from simply laming the basing game.

Anyone who has over bandcramp's 280 hours of usage want to comment seriously on this?

where did you get the figures that it has unanimous support? Have you polled people? Things are only going to get complicated if people suggest a change and use that type of wording without actual evidence to back it up.

And yes, I've been busy with life as well, but as I mentioned the last time I posted, I'm more than happy to look over meeting notes and provide input if I miss a meeting.

I've never been a huge fan of the weasel either way but it was definitely more challenging when basing as Terr to have a smaller weasel. They made me be more aggressive about watching out for cloaks and did cause some interesting turn of events during games.

That said they've also been the cause of many lame deaths, but that seems to pretty much be the weasels job regardless.

Am I missing something, but what is the point of a commitee to write down and represent the views of the community, when we already have a forum which more accurately represents the views of the community as everyone can post. If staff wanted to act on concerns they'd respond to the queries that are continually raised here

Note I haven't read any of this thread, is this thread the actual commitee or is it a select body of people as I had presumed?

It's not an actual committee. I just thought we should at least try to get one idea going. Ask players about it, etc. This committee/thread was going nowhere and I was hoping that running with tagmor's suggestion would lead to something. Clearly it hasn't led anywhere other than to another post that really doesn't offer much of anything.
