Why would he? He doesn't owe us anything.
He's put in an assload of time to create what we have today, and he's still paying for it. If he wants to just pay the bill for us without being involved we should be happy that he's still paying the bill.Da1andonly> man this youghurt only made me angry

So what if I were fucking rich, millions and millions. What if I would pay for the servers and shit, would that help tw? We still need extra players so ...

how can we NOT accept this deal? What needs to be done is send an email back to rapidshare stating what our community would want and state the kind of control we want to keep over the game.
Competitiveness sucks nowadays and TWL is hardly fun anymore. Player base is down. Skill is down. Servers suck. Lag is rampant. Nothing gets fixed. Nothing but shitty events are hosted. Aside from the community what the hell is actually right with this game now?
This is EXACTLY was SS needs. All we have to do is state to them that we want to have control over this new game.

I don't see the conspiracy here. I don't see how ANYONE could make a profit off this game today.
As long as TW ship settings stay the same and my ?lag stays about the same I really don't care who runs it. Can't get much worse as far as head management goes seeing as Priit and Dock quit.
No way I'd ever pay to play this game though. Maybe like 5+ years ago, maybe.(ZaBuZa)>sigh.. i been playing this game since i was 8... i am more mature then ull ever be...

Well, I don't think this is real. Those e-mails are highly unprofessional, and clearly are not from the CEO of a large corporation.
And if it is real, I welcome it. I'll teach those rapidshare newbies how to play warbird.RaCka> imagine standing out as a retard on subspace

I'm pretty sure that anyone with the financial powers to bring this game back on its feet is very willing to keep its current competitive population. It also goes without saying that when we've had this for free for over ten years nobody is going to pay for it. There's no way in hell a company is going to go through the process of getting this game without thinking about these things. I'm also sure that Polix will never accept any corporate deals that gives the new owners a chance to close down the game in it's current form.
As I said in my other post, we know far too little about what this offer actually contains. It's pointless to speculate in it just to find a way this is going to be bad and then "vote" (lol) no.
This is interesting and there's a possibility for something good to come out of this. We just have to wait and see what Polix decides to mail back and what any future responses is going to be.

Also, I would like to point out the only people against this whole idea seem to be power-hungry staff members.
Only staff care if someone else owns this game and create their own version of staff. Obviously, those of you who are staff now are probably going to be shitcanned, and of course you don't like that.
I see no problem with it, and honestly if they did axe most of our current staff I have no complaints. There are of course good staff members, and I don't see why they would not hire you and you actually get paid for the good work and time you put in for your efforts. It would just mean the shitty staffers like kolar would be gone, and I have no problems with that at all.
EDIT:
On top of that, the emails clearly state they have no intention of ever making this gay pay to play. Stop posting HELL NO WE WONT GO quotes if you are not going to read the emails. The company clearly wants to do a few certain things:
1. Make this game the main game on games.rapidshare.com. This game has a lot of value over random shockwave shitgames, and having a game that has stood the test of time like this one on that website could actually promote both parties. Rapidshare gets more hits, and continuum gets more players.
2. They do not want it to change from being completely free, and I think they understand it would never work.
3. By advertising the game with their massive amounts of money, they promote both rapidshare and continuum, like said before. People who enjoy this game would most likely get on rapidshare, and people on rapidshare might enjoy this game.
4. The overall cost of hosting this game, and ironing out all the legal details is not very much for a corporation such as them. In fact, it doesn't even dent their chump change. It might actually be a good investment if done right.Last edited by Exalt; 04-29-2009, 10:52 PM.RaCka> imagine standing out as a retard on subspace

I doubt anyone is ever going to earn money moderating this game without having some sort of ownership. Why pay for staff when you can easily get one for free?
Personally I think they would be interested in keeping as many current staff members possible, as they currently are those who actually has experience in doing this. If this somehow actually gets through and we get a new stream of players in I'll go back to staff, and I think some of the other good ex-staffers will be interested in that too.Da1andonly> man this youghurt only made me angry

I'm wondering if your forced to view adds before you can enter the game?
nothing more annoying then being forced to do that.
Polix-
"I have yet to reply to him, as I wanted to wait for a more general consensus before I sign us up for a online "battle". As it sounds they will proceed cloning us if we don't just hand our shit over to them. Which as we all know, Uh, NO. Though it may be worth finding some middle ground, I dunno."
Let them, we'll just goto the magazine, and online sites and make it a publicity stunt for the underdogs! Just think how many more people will come
here just for support!. 1 , 2,3? people maybe
It'll just end up another xbox360 flop shrednebula . go go go.Last edited by Witness; 04-30-2009, 02:06 AM.
