Veterans started leaving the publics because staff tampered with the publics to the point where veterans OF ALL LEAGUES going to public arenas to do whatever they wanted to do was killed by killing lt's and adding small weasels, forcing FR basing etc etc etc. It was bullshit in all honestly and it contributed to both the death of basing and also to the death of pubs. It never should have been changed for a few whiny basers but it was and it is too late to fix it now because people are used to it. So we are at a point where basers won't play pub because they are too elite, and wbs and javs won't play pubs because all of the ways to have fun such as lting have been killed. There is no more lt's so good warbirds won't go to the arena to hunt the leviterrs. It is a vicious and deadly cycle which basically stopped good players from playing in the public arena. Which we all know caused less people moving up out of publics and created less leaders in publics because they don't have anyone to imitate or look up to.

Btw, I started pubbing in like 98 or so and did so for a few years before I got into basing with the #myth crowd which eventually led to me moving into squads that played twld and helped me to create QS which pulled quite a few warbirds from public arenas and turned them into some of todays leading warbirds across the top of the TWDD ladder. But newbies today aren't like they used to be honestly, they are stupid, don't know how to act among good players, don't know how to team or go to coords mainly because they have never had to, they have had the luxury of a bots controlling every aspect of public arenas for them. So we are stuck with a widening gap between the good players in TW and the terrible newbies in TW, and the gap is very clear if you look at it by start time.

No offense fableman but I know a lot about this zone, being a staffer for five years, hosting countless events, inventing several quite popular events, running a successful squad that produced many of todays best warbirds, being on the legendary squad LT in my younger days. I have seen the game decay over the years from too many bots being put in place to control every aspect of the game. This game thrived on the fact that it had an easy to learn, hard to master quality to it, the easy part was flying and shooting, the hard part was learning the tiny intricacies that made you a viable choice to join a squad and further your career in whatever league you decided to play in. So no, it isn't weasels ruining the pub, it is staff tampering with things that shouldn't have been tampered with, lack of communication between staff and new players through overuse of robohelp instead of personal communication to explain a problem (ie laziness), and people thinking that because Pub is the arena you enter into that bots pretty much tell you what to do and when to do it always in every arena.

The whole "leave pub" argument is pretty pointless. Newer players found out about twd/twl from older players playing WITH THEM IN PUBS. They recruited them, taught them, etc.

This rarely happens now because for whatever reason most of the older players don't play pub. I remember when private arena basing started, it pulled the good players out of pubs once in a while. Then ?go base started and it pulled the good players out of pubs for good.

So the argument that says fuck pubs and let them rot so people will want to find other arenas doesn't really work. Instead of finding other arenas they just find a different zone or game. Mainly because this zone's more experienced population rarely, if ever even visits the public arenas.

People learned how to handle situations on their own instead of constantly reporting every fuck to get them banned for a few days. Back then we would kill lt's not cry about em, if someone tk'd us we would tk em back instead of crying to staff, if someone cloaked us we would hunt em in a terr. These days you got like 1-4 cloakers after your ass that change ship as soon you going to kill'em, they spec you and soo on.
Instead or telling us how 1337 you are cos you dont pub any more, there is still ppl played longer then you that love pub but dont stand pub any longer, Pub is getting ruined by the cloakers and the day pub dies you don't have elim DD's or anything, Last time i plays elim for 2h we where just 5 ppl. We need to attract new players and that will be impossible if we got a PUB thats just a cloak party that ruin game play these days.
