I banned Il for porn posting a few months back...was a 2 week ban. Nothing major, but he has been warned and then pushes the envelope. In my mind he is either looking for the ban or attention?

The need to post the pics he did and as many as had been done are really uncalled for; I personally would never have looked at the Melee forum if it had not been for the attention it had received based upon the ban.

Is there really a need for posting porn to the forums? There is only 3/4 of the web devoted to porn already, so what was the intention for posting the pics?

Easily solve the prob by eliminating any picture posting to the forum...add a link outside of TW if you want, but keep the pic posting to nill perhaps?

I am on a few other forums and there is absolutely zero tolerance for the posting of any kind of porn.

When someone goes out of there way to make a post and then title it: "thread where ilya posts nudes without fear of persecution from nazi mods". What can one expect? Was I offended by the pics? not at all. Was it really necessary to post them with such a topic? No! What was the intention and direction of which this post was made? To annoy and create arguments for how the forum is run and bash the staff that maintains the forum.

At this point, I would only suggest that the elimination of any pic posting be put in place and limit Il's ban to 2 weeks. Noting this is only one of several bans for the same forums rule violation by the same person, it may be best to just eliminate pic posting all together as I had noted and perhaps this way the problem of posting porn to this forum will be a closed case. If anyone would be offended by this, we can just thank Ilya for his contributions leading to this.

I just don't get it though...it's as if it was a burning desire to make sure soft core porn can be posted to the forum.

If the bans are not the cure for this action, then what would be the proper rules for the forum? and what would or should be considered a violation of the rules? There is going to be a point as to which there is nobody happy with the outcome, be it a ban or not banning someone.

This debate is somewhat ridiculous and what may be really needed is a forum rules overhall and allow the top forum mod or whoever is paying for this forum to put their foot down and lay down the law, no if's and's or but's.

Basing a forum ban upon a violator and holding back from doing the same ban on another just becasue of entertainment or contributions by their posting should not make one above the forum rules itself, moderators included.

Give Ilya his 2 week and life goes on...am sure it will only bring about the same violation once again within a few months if that.

I don't usually get in the middle of these types of posts. But everyone except for a couple of people has responded like I would have 7 years ago.

I often wonder what draws me to these forums just to watch a bunch of people acting like children act out.

I agree with PH on the level of: "this is an internet forum, who cares?" You're absolutely right. People who don't care will whine a little bit and then never come back. Those people spamming and acting out will eventually be the only ones left, thus making these forums quite unattractive.

We should ask: What is the purpose of this forum? A venue for e-children or a place for discussion?

Once you've all the people who spend the majority of their times on these forums arguing/fighting each other suddenly grouped against you, you should probably acknowledge you made a dumb mistake, (maybe apology) or if your ego is too big for that, just correct your mistake and consider leaving the forum moderating to someone better suited.
Imo as long as PH and some other mods, 404 etc, ppl with common sense, are around on these forums we've nothing to worry about really. This place has been fine as it is for the last year(s).

Dont get caught up in the fact that hes a coder or hes volunteering his time for this game. Theres plenty of people that volunteer for this game and do a much better job in running it, but hes trying to act like because he can code everyone needs to listen to his opinions.
