New Pub rules/changes?!

Who has seen this? This is one of the most dreadful things I have ever seen done to the public arenas. Personally with a declining population on subspace, I think this will make Trench Wars worse for the new pub newbies. Please explain your thoughts/opinions and what you think. I really thought TW staff was insanely stupid but this is just a new low.

Well I have to say I logged into TW today and at first what seemed like a good idea was quickly ruined due to several large problems with the new system.

The first problem is that Dexter thinks that he is now someone who has absolute power over public arenas, he "hardcoded" bans into the public system so that certain players who have expressed dislike for his new system are not allowed to use the system, so basically with this new system several players are banned from ever using javelins, weasels, or levi's. I don't know why he thinks he as a coder has this type of privilege to decide who and who doesn't get to play but this is the same fucking problem that came about from distension. It is like there is a separate staff or a separate power within the zone that doesn't have to answer to the rest of staff or to anyone.

Although I think that being able to buy a levi is a good idea, I also fail to see the point of removing javelins and weasels unless you buy them, you have pretty much restricted the public arena to 5/8 ships, certain players to only getting to play in 5/8 ships, and pretty much once again have redoubled your efforts to force people into basing. This is nothing short of distension-lite in TW public arena, and personally I don't think someone who thinks that he has the power to do whatever he wants to players or refuse people who disagree with him the right to play in nearly half of the ships that this zone has to offer has any reason or right to be the one controlling this.

I think we saw this before where a coder (who are notorious for doing this) thinks that because they code that they are above or beyond following the rules that govern the rest of staff but this needs to be dealt with quickly because it gets out of hand. Nobody can question this coding regime without facing the consequences of their action? This sounds like a totalitarian dictatorship in a public arena instead of what it was supposed to be.

So although there are a few good changes in this, overall it is done poorly with too many ships being restricted, too much power given to the coder to ban players from the system, and being too similar to a distension lite than is good for this zone.

i've just seen all this shit, this is god awful why on earth has this been allowed? you've just turned pub into a dumbed down version of distension. It's pub because you have the freedom to do what you want...base or fight outside the base or LT...not be forced to play certain ships...this is so bad. Im not a hardcore pubber but i do enjoy entering it from time to time and playing any ship for fun...but thats out the window. Fuk u dexter and staff that allowed this.

p.s. instantly after typing that, looked back at my chat window for ss and im in public arena, entire page + more of pubbers just saying 'wtf is this' 'who the hell put these settings in' etc etc.

These changes were never posted on TW forums and they were implemented without the players here having a vote. Then Dexter codes specific people not to use the system without consulting a higher authority about this matter.

Everything has come into place now to keep the public arenas populated, exciting and consistent with regular play. The introduction of this points/cash system will be just another element of play that will keep it interesting (just like the ear warps that help basing). As for the bold text in that quote, I don't see any evidence that TW is still getting new players, I heard of an advertising campaign or something a few months back but I haven't seen anything. Also it isn't hard to press F1.. adding this system isn't making a massive learning curve for new players.

EDIT: These people crying about it don't even play the pubs on a regular basis, just more hardline comments being fueled by either jealousy or the obvious fact that a few disliked people are banned from the system.

whoever isn't feeling well and don't want to play with pub store, you can go to 2nd pub, the store is OFF there.

i'm connecting pub store with staffbot, so i didn't "ban" anyone, I just made a way to the bot recognize some names and don't accept the command !buy <item> from them. Its not like they can't play, they can play for sure, you're talking about something you don't know how it is working, so stop judging me like that hah

and thanks to War for making this post, so now everyone can give out new ideas and I'll be adding/coding those ideas, was a very useful post.
For your info, I'm trying to ask Witness to enable XRadar to Warbird, so the players can !buy it.
More, I have an idea of making streaks give money, also winner of round and people that gets flag will have money added.

That just sums up the store.

So like I said, you pretty much banned people from using the new system and using 3/8 of TW's ships in public arenas.

No matter how (poorly) you try to word that, the fact remains that you don't have the power to do that.

This is just a few distension hardcores in power trying to force us to play distension.
Oh good mobey isnt coming back here...then i can say its disgusting he's a staffer (if he is). I popped straight into pub and on twd chat said 'what on earth are these settings' and his first answer was 'grow up immature players' etc. Guy didnt even give any explanation for the new rules being in place or giving any half decent defence of why it's been put in place, he just jumped straight to abusing myself and wark as soon as we mentioned any dislike towards the rules.

The change is not permanent, it is a TEST atm and so it means, there is an other public with old system that you can play there and don't participate on the TEST

So make this the second public arena, and let people who "want to test it" be able to go to that arena and play it instead of forcing people to play it.
