New Pub rules/changes?!

Too much personal aggravation towards Dexter, especially after the hard work he has done.

Stop thinking about Distension, take more of a counterstrike approach to it, you earn better upgrades etc by killing / becoming more involved in the main aim of TrenchWars, WHICH IS.. fighting to gain control of base/flag (OMFG). This is adding more depth to the gameplay and WILL make it alot more enjoyable for new and old players alike. Just gotta get the commands and the right variables to make it consistent with the gameplay.

I like vys' idea of being able to duel for money, its little things like this that can open the average player up to the rest of TrenchWars' leagues, twd twel etc.

Yeah lets duel for money, unfortunately we will have to set up the server in another country where gambling is legal, or move it to Vegas.

Can you imagine the bookies going crazy to cover the odds of our game?


Look the solution was much easier than this crap, you don't need new bots and other crap to fix public arenas.

Just remove the second pub, remove the arena limit on pub 0, add a larger base (fatbase), add some walls that make leviterring less effective and more dangerous, and stop forcing people to base.

I didn't mean real money. But I agree on the bigger base and higher arena limit, seems like at peak times there could be more high quality basing with more people.. instead of a stacked team vs. 50% newbs in javs, which I see 90% of the time.

Cheese can you shut up and take your personal vendetta against Wark somewhere else? I realize you're probably angry about Wark being an outspoken critic of distension (which failed) and then didn't take your efforts to make a distension zone seriously (so, it failed), but if you look at the pattern of it all, Wark is usually right and you're usually wrong, and he's also done a LOT more productive work for this zone than you or most other people. So clearly we should be pursuing Wark's opinion a little more than yours, sorry for the ego bruise.

I'm sure a few hours of your pub time didnt/wont kill you. I was amazed at people that dont pub very often anymore, actually checking it out. This was/is a necessary test to figuire out which direction that we want to take or not take. The bugs found duing this test were a curcial part as well, and by doing it in pub 0 the bugs were noticed faster then any beta arena test performed before. Rest assured we are not trying to turn it into distention, but give pub a new interest, alot of feedback was giving some good/some bad we appreciate both good & Bad comments, as long as they have some merit of a reason why you like or dont like it. So keep them coming. Remember this is just a test, nothing set in stone.

We have already made some changes on the fly. Just to see the effects given. Please give dexter some credit for making it possible, I'd rather see someone trying to do something then nothing, wouldnt you? The idea didnt come from dexter alone but actually a group of people more an more ideas were added they can be removed even faster, like lwbrestrict just see what kinda responce it would get. With the results of the test being so mixed, is it really worth given up yet? before we even get close to a more polished version of it to try?

I like the potential of the this new system. However, I have a few concerns I thought I would bring up.
One general rule I believe in is to Keep "pure pub" as close to pure pub as possible. That means, if leviathans are going to be implemented they have to be a rare sighting. Right now they cost about $1400 which is way too cheap (like 50 kills in fr). I think anything from 50k+ is a better figure. The general rule also means players should not get more restricted than they are at the moment. The system should expand possibilites not restrict them.

1) On money formula:

I don't really get the point system, why have ships been given the points they have?

Ship 1,2,3,7 are the main fighting ships and should have about the same value (like 10).
Ship 6 and 8 could be worth a little more, like 13-14.
Terr is good right now.
Since leviathans should be a rare sight they could be worth more, like 200.

I also don't get why "roof" is counted as spawn atm? It should at least be valued the same as middle.

I'm not sure of the prizes on the buyable stuff right now, but I haven't thought much on that yet.

2) I like the idea of challenges.

It would be neat to be able to challenge someone for money and/or to put a bounty on someone's head. The player with a bounty on his/her head should also get more money for the kills they make (since they are now "hunted").

This thread is kind of funny to be honest. One person goes above and beyond and tries to do a few changes to the game and we shit on him.
Yes, some of the changes are not too good. But remember, it's only a test and constructive criticism is wanted.
In my opinion I think we should bring back small weasel and add that to the restriction ships alongside leviathan.
Also, rather than a time limit on a ship, maybe have a death limit? This will encourage players to get good in the restricted ships and try and stay alive longer, rather than trying to kill someone as fast as you can within the 5 minutes.
What do you guys think of adding a betting dueling system within public? For example :-
